What this means, it is now officially time for us to begin exposing the talent within the New England class of 2027. Our middle school Prep Redzone Next National Scout Director Al Pops has given us a head start with the names of these top prospects within this class.
In this report, I will highlight a few names that have already caught my attention and confirmed through summer camps and also a quick film analysis that was given to me for review. A majority of these prospects have not played a down of Varsity football yet, but are highly projected to compete to take the field this fall and will also likely be top recruits to be ranked with us within their class moving forward. This will be a continued series with several parts being rolled out moving forward during pre-season 2023.
c/o 2027 2021 & 2022 AYF Blackstone Valley Regular Season & Super Bowl Champ. 2021 & 2022 AYF New England Regional Champ 2023 AYF 8th Grade All-StarScout Al Pops Notes:October 2022 – Got a chance to see Lora live this summer and he was one of the first kids I took a liking to. At 5-foot-9 and 140-pounds Lora is an exciting Wide Receiver with exceptional quickness. Being from Massachusetts he doesn’t face the elite competition week-in and week-out like some of the prospects from the likes of Georgia, Texas, Florida or California; However, when he was lined up against kids from those states he proved he belonged. Though he is equally as impressive as a Defensive Back, I really like Lora’s future as Wide Receiver. His quickness, agility and ability to allude would-be tacklers in close proximity is impressive. Can take short screens the distance or execute End-arounds with ease. While certainly a deep threat, he also isn’t afraid to go across the middle. No alligator arms here. Lora is already attracting some looks from prep schools throughout New England and should be a welcomed addition wherever he lands.
December 2022 – Lora is listed at 5-foot-9 and 140-pounds and is one of my favorite Wide Receivers in the northeast at this point. Doesn’t have the hulking size that some of the other Wide Receivers have, but he’s equally as dynamic. Can make a ton of catches and score at will on the outside. Plays fearlessly and isn’t afraid to go across the middle if it means making a big play.
February 2023 – I’ve seen Lora play live a lot over the last year and he’s always impressive. He’s lightning quick and looked to the best route runner on the East squad during practices. Has some serious froggies to him and I wouldn’t be afraid to throw it up for the 5-foot-9 Wide Receiver, regardless of the size of the Defensive Back tasked with trying to lock him down. Again, like Davis, a mature kid in conversation and a joy to interact with each time I see him. Told me he isn’t sure about what high school he’s going to attend yet. However, the Rhode Island native said he’s aware of the impressive pedigree of athletes that Catholic Memorial in Massachusetts turns out and said he’s certainly considering them. Stay tuned.
Regional Scout Notes:
June 17, 2023 – My Scout Analysis: He is a gifted athlete with quickness, speed and high vertical ability. Has soft hands and is a natural when executing any football simulated drill. His skill set easily stands out when he is on the field. He grabbed many coaches attention and had many coaches shaking their heads as to how he is only a rising 8th grader. He stands approximately 5’9″ with more growth potential seen in his young frame. Has early D-1 skill set. He took home the MVP honors amongst all high school athletes in the AM session.
In summary, I have “Lora” projected as Div 1 prospect and his potential future growth in height will be a huge factor where ends up after high school. Univ of Connecticut loved his camp performances this summer 2023 and will likely be following the athlete closely this fall.

He is a prospect who played Varsity Football in 2022 at Leominster High School in Massachusetts as a 9th grader (Freshman). He has now been reclassified into the 2027 class at Tabor Academy.
October 2022 – Scout Analysis – Drinkwater” has already broken the Varsity lineup and he is showing why he is on the field. He shows a competitive effort, fearlessness, and confidence in his skill set. He checks many pure athletic boxes. Has very good agility, balance, change of direction skills. His hip flexibility, knee bending, and body quickness are also visible at a high level. His lateral movement ability and leaping ability are easily noticed on film. Shows early D1 skill set. Very high ceiling for this young man.
May 2023 – He is a 2026 reclass into the 2027 class at Tabor Academy in Fall 2023. He played varsity as a Freshman last season at Leominster High School in Massachusetts.
His performance earned him a offer from Umass.
Drinkwater is a far experienced and mature athlete who I project will be a Div 1 athlete with the potential to be a special player at the next level.

He is a three-sport (Basketball, Football and Baseball) athlete with very good athletic coordination. He played Varsity Football as an 8th grader during the 2022 season. Has an athletic frame with length and early lean muscle. Has good balance and body control with the ability to make difficult back-shoulder catches. He is advanced in his skill set and has early signs of being a future high level recruit.

A very confident player. Seen as a bit undersized but with plenty of time for additional growth and development. Has good athletic ability. He has playmaking abilities on both sides of the ball. He has very good field awareness. He can stop and break instantly to make defenders miss. He is difficult to tackle in open field. On defense, he plays physically and will come up for run support needs. Has good field vision for zone coverages. If he continues to grow in height, which I project he will, he will be a potential Div 1 athlete after high school.
