With that comes a lot of great players, as well as many who’ve put in the work this offseason to be exceptionally better than last season. Here are five players I think can break out this season!
QB | Ryan Counts Ryan Counts QB Groves | 2025 MI | Groves | Hudl
This is a player I hadn’t heard of until last Winter, and I’m confident he’s improved quite a bit this offseason. Ryan is a dual-threat QB from Groves who hasn’t skipped a beat this offseason. Coaching, 7on7, camps, you name it. Ryan seems to have improved his mental game quite a bit, and I expect him to play more confidently this season. Groves advanced all the way to the Semifinals this past season, and I believe Ryan Counts Ryan Counts QB Groves | 2025 MI could help Groves do it again.
T | Jack Holton | Bloomfield Hills | Hudl
Like a lot of breakout candidates I name, Jack has had a good offseason. He has a few solid offseason highlights on his X (Twitter), and he’s undoubtedly gotten some coaching at every camp he’s been to. I still view Jack as more of a raw prospect, but game reps this season should help him continually improve and perfect the coaching he’s received this offseason.
G | Brady Petrusha Brady Petrusha 6'1" | 265 lbs | OL Farmington | 2025 State MI | Farmington | Hudl
You can take everything I said about Jack and apply it to Brady. This is a guy who’s done well this offseason, and is ready to take that next step. Last season’s film showcases a lot of instances of good run blocking, with good power and foot drive. There are times where Brady gets a bit high out of his stance, as well as times when he leans and is off balance. With his work this offseason, I am confident he’ll do great as Farmington moves to the OAA White!
LB | Jack Lower Jack Lower 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Rochester | 2026 State MI | Rochester | Hudl
For me, Jack Lower Jack Lower 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Rochester | 2026 State MI has already broken out. I legitimately fell in love with Jack’s film when I watched it, as he’s an incredible inside linebacker with a lot of great traits. First, Jack is strong. As a prolific lifter and wrestler, Jack has the strength to dominate alongside the toughness to invite physicality. He also has some highlights showing good IQ and reaction time, and he’s a few steps quicker to react than some other LBs. With a lot of super strong LBs the athleticism can fluctuate, and I see that with Jack, so I hope he’s able to move a bit more fluidly and get faster for sideline-to-sideline plays.
DE/OLB | Mathias Davis | Southfield A&T | Hudl
This is another example of a guy who had a great 2022 season and could turn the corner to get a ton of college attention. Mathias is a strong defensive end that is not afraid to invite contact against the OL. He’s also gotten a ton of reps this offseason and is bound to have improved with all of his work. One major area of improvement for Mathias is his getoff. If he can find some fast-twitch movement and combine speed with his already great power, he’ll be excellent.
