Week 2 gave us several exciting games with some impressive individual performances. While it was hard to pick from all of the strong performances from this past weekend, here are my top offensive performances in the state of Kentucky from Week 2.
Daniel Thomas Daniel Thomas 5’9″ | 180 lbs | ATH Bell County | 2024 State KY is a player that has been high on my radar for a while now and continued to impress this past week. Thomas led Bell County to a win over Boyd County, running the ball 21 times for 344 yards and six touchdowns. He displayed impressive speed, bursting through the running lanes and running away from the defense. Thomas also showed the ability to make defenders miss and break tackles in the open field. Daniel also scored a touchdown on defense, returning a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Thomas doesn’t currently hold any offers but I expect some to come his way soon as he has received some college interest and has the potential to be a true impact player at the next level.
Highlights
Kaydon Custard Kaydon Custard 6’2″ | 180 lbs | QB Harrison County | 2024 State KY makes an appearance on my top performers list for the second straight week. Custard put together another very impressive performance, leading his team to a victory over Estill County. Kaydon showed the ability to stretch the field as a passer, completing 17/30 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns. He also displayed his true dual-threat ability once again, running the ball 10 time for 57 yards and two touchdowns. Custard also played a key role on defense, returning one interception for a touchdown. Kaydon currently holds offers from Otterbein and Oakland City but I expect more to come his way soon as he has put college coaches on notice in the first two weeks over his senior year.
Another player making his second straight appearance on my top performers list is Deuce Bailey Deuce Bailey 6’1″ | 170 lbs | QB Bowling Green | 2025 State KY from Bowling Green. After a tough Week 1 loss, Bailey helped lead the Purples to a victory this week over Owensboro. Bailey put on a show as a passer, showing off his impressive arm strength and accuracy. He completed 20/28 passes for 321 yards and five touchdowns. Deuce also showed the ability to make plays with his legs when needed, scoring one rushing touchdown. Bailey currently holds offers from Miami (OH), Missouri State, and Eastern Kentucky, and I expect more to come his way as he is a true Division I caliber quarterback prospect with the potential to pick up some Power 5 offers.
Highlights
After making my defensive top performers list last week, Brock Coffman Brock Coffman 6’0″ | 160 lbs | WR Sayre School | 2025 State KY found his way onto my list on the other side of the ball for Week 2. Coffman played a key role in Sayre’s win over Bracken County, catching seven passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns. Brock thrived out of the slot, showing the ability to use his quick release and smooth breaks in his routes to create separation from opposing defensive backs. After the catch, Coffman showed the ability to use his speed to run away from the defense. Brock currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky but I expect more to come his way as he is a true Division I caliber wide receiver.
Another highly touted wide receiver that impressed this past week is Max Gainey Max Gainey 5’9″ | 155 lbs | WR Louisville Male | 2024 State KY from Male. Gainey helped lead the Bulldogs to a huge win over Ballard, catching seven passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns. Max was able to display his impressive route running ability out of the slot, using quick breaks in his routes to create separation. He was also able to use his speed to his advantage to pose as a dangerous threat in the deep passing game. Gainey currently holds an offer from Purdue and I expect more to come his way soon as he is a true Power 5 caliber receiver prospect.
Cole Hodge Cole Hodge 6’2″ | QB Christian Academy Of Louisville | 2024 State KY is a player that has been high on our radar for a while now and he continued to show that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the state this past week. Hodge led his team to a dominant win over New Albany (IN), completing 16/17 passes for 260 yards and five touchdowns. He showed an impressive quick release which he used to hit receivers in stride out of their breaks. Hodge also showed the ability to escape the pocket while keeping his eyes down the field to make throws on the run when under pressure. Cole is committed to East Carolina where I see him developing into a successful college quarterback once he gets there.
Another quarterback that stood out to me this past week was Beechwood’s Clay Hayden Clay Hayden 6’1″ | 180 lbs | QB Beechwood | 2025 State KY . Hayden led the Tigers to a blowout victory over Campbell County, completing 20/25 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns. Clay showed impressive accuracy on Friday, showing the ability to zip passes into small windows and put the ball where only his receiver had a chance to catch it. He also showed the ability to make plays under pressure, using his speed to escape the pocket while also keeping his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. While Clay doesn’t currently hold any offer, I expect some to come his way soon as he has received some college interest and definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.

Landon Johnson Landon Johnson 6’4″ | 180 lbs | ATH Fleming County | 2024 State KY is a player that caught my attention last season and continued to impress this past week. Johnson played a key role in the Panthers’ win over Nicholas County, catching five passes for 142 yards and three touchdowns. Landon was a huge threat in the deep passing game, using his speed to run by opposing defensive backs to create separation. After the catch, Johnson showed the ability to make plays in the open field, using his speed to run away from the defense while also showing the elusiveness to make defenders miss. He also played a key role on defense, coming away with one interception and a fumble recovery. While he doesn’t currently hold any offers, Landon definitely deserves some attention from college coaches as he has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
Yurii Collins Yurii Collins 5’7″ | 160 lbs | ATH Lloyd Memorial | 2025 State KY is another player to caught my attention this past week. The junior running back played a huge role in the Juggernauts’ win over Boone County, running the ball 23 times for 313 yards and three touchdowns. Collins displayed an impressive combination of speed and elusiveness once he hit the open field. He showed the ability to either run away from the defense or make defenders Miss to break off on long runs. Collins was also able to use his speed to get to the outside on sweeps before the defense could meet him there. Yurii doesn’t currently hold any offers but should be a player for college coaches to keep an eye on over the next two seasons.
To wrap up my top offensive performers from Week 2, I have Lane Grant Lane Grant 6’1″ | 200 lbs | ATH Adair County | 2025 State KY from Adair County. Grant helped lead his team to a huge win over Bethlehem. Lane is the Indians’ starting quarterback but did most of his damage on the ground, running the ball 18 times for 222 yards and five touchdowns. As a passer, he completed 9/18 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns. Lane doesn’t currently hold any offers but will be a player to watch over the next two seasons.
