2023 Season Preview Shippensburg

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Shippensburg High School Football team went 8-4 last year. Head Coach Eric Foust has been the head coach for the last 21 years. He has helped guide a successful program that seems to always be in the mix in the difficult Mid-Penn Conference. Wenner did a nice job playing as a hybrid player on defense. He showed good ability to play as an off-the-ball outside linebacker. In this position, he did a good job of keeping contain and taking on blocks. Wenner always keeps his outside shoulder free to take on a blocker and then be able to make the tackle. Wenner also showed the ability to drop into the zone as a flat defender. Wenner at times played as a stand-up defensive end when the offense required him to do it. He showed a good ability to set the edge and be a good stand-up defensive end. He was also a good tackler, who tackles in the open field well. Shope did a nice job in coverage. When he was in coverage as a flat defender his drops into that zone are solid. Shope also showed the ability to drop back into a deep zone when it was needed. He is a good tackler, especially in the open field. Also when the ball is in the air he shows the ability to make a play on the ball. He does this by either breaking it up or intercepting the ball. He played as a deep safety last year. He played 15 yards off the ball to prevent a big play this is called an angel defender. Nori showed a solid job of coming upfield to make a tackle. He also did a nice job of playing a deep zone and not allowing anything behind him. Agosto showed good speed at wide receiver with his ability to run past defenders. He also catches the ball well, especially in traffic. Agosto played defensive back as well. He shows good coverage skills by dropping deep in coverage. Carbaugh showed good athleticism in his offensive tackle position. He does a nice job reach blocking defensive lineman. He showed a good ability to pull and kick out defenders. He also showed good strength at the point of attack when he is blocking. Carbaugh moves his feet well in pass blocking. Carbaugh recently attended Millersville's prospect camp. Eichelberger is a physical runner who rarely gets tackled by the 1st defender. He hits the hole well and makes people miss in the open field. He isn't the fastest player at running back but does a nice job of running through contact and gaining extra yards. Chamberlin was a big play machine for Shippensburg. He returned a kickoff for a touchdown and had several long touchdown receptions. Chamberlin is also good after the catch. Several times on short throws like hitches he caught the ball and always got positive yards after the catch. He also caught the ball well. Chamberlin is a dynamic player who made a ton of big plays for Shippensburg last year and I expect he will continue it this season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Final Thoughts</strong>:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Shippensburg should have a chance at another winning season and a successful season again. Coach Foust's program does a good job of producing hard-nosed teams that are fundamentally sound.
