The PRZ IL 2024 Rankings have been updated, and the Class is STACKED. The Top 200 is full of D1 talent, and among them are some massive targets that give defenses nightmares with the mismatch they create. Trying to matchup with 6’3″+ WRs/TEs is hard to do at the college level. It isn’t fair at the HS level. Today we are going to look at those big targets and mismatches that are still looking for their home. Teams looking to add size need to add these kids to their recruiting boards.
Paul spent 2022 at QB for Springfield, but his next level home looks like it will be at TE. Paul has developed a massive 6’5″ 210 lbs frame. Paul is the top uncommitted TE in IL according to the newly updated 2024 rankings. He is smooth route runner who possesses impressive burst out of his breaks to create instant separation from DBs. Paul has also shown to have the nuanced hand usage during his route running to keep DBs from pressing or re-routing him. Paul is the top size mismatch still uncommitted in IL. He can go over the top or win with athleticism. Don’t miss out on him.
Highlights
Jason is an imposing 6’5″ 235 lbs two way stud for Niles West, and he could be an impact player on either side of the ball at the next level. Let’s focus on his offensive play. Niles West capitalized on his physical play by consistently getting him the ball quickly and letting him power through tackle attempts. That power shows up in the run game too. He overpowers DEs/LBs with those long arms and big frame and drives them off the ball and into the dirt. Jason can fit at either the H-Back or traditional TE role.
Donovan is an exciting mismatch at WR. He has a wide catch radius at 6’4″ that allows him to go over the top and high point the ball before DBs can get to the ball. What makes Donovan even more of a mismatch is his speed. The long striding athlete eats up yards and pulls away from the defense when he gets the ball in the open field. Anderson also demonstrates the body control to be able to make the defense miss in tight quarters and make the acrobatic sideline catches. He has a well rounded game allowing him to beat whatever the DB’s weakness is.
Teams looking for a WR who will force DBs to make business decisions need to check out the 6’4″ 210 lbs. Randy has built a stout, strong frame and that physicality makes him a nightmare for DBs. After the catch Randy has a strong stiff arm, a low center of gravity, and the lower body strength to run through arm tackle attempts. Defenses need to swarm and gang tackle Randy, or he will pile up the yards after the catch, and after contact. He is a tone setter out wide.
Another WR who knows how to use his superior size to win battles downfield is the 6’3″ 195 lbs Joe Allen Joe Allen 6’3″ | 195 lbs | WR Rock Island | 2024 State IL . Joe can stretch the field vertically and then go over the top of a safety or over double coverage. Joe excels in the jump ball situations, and will be a reliable redzone option at the next level. He has soft hands, and the long speed to get deep or turn quick passes into big gains. Joe understands how to use his size to create space and win downfield.
We could be in store for a breakout season from Aiden Moriarty Aiden Moriarty 6’4″ | 240 lbs | TE Oswego East | 2024 State IL . He has built a great frame for the TE position. He has put on 15 lbs since last fall and is now listed at 6’4″ 240 lbs. Aiden offers a big bonus in the run game. He is a powerful run blocker and can pile up the pancakes. He has a strong punch and runs his feet through the initial engagement. His blocking provides the offense with an extra OL essentially. In the passing game, Aiden uses that big frame to box out the defense, and then turns up field and runs with power. The Oswego East athlete is name to know.
Grant is an under the radar prospect to know. He has good size at 6’3″ 180 lbs and his excellent hands provide his QB with a huge target area. Grant is also elusive with the ball in his hands. He has the body control to be able to juke, or spin away from the defense and then accelerate quickly to top speed. Grant adjusts to the ball in the air well too. He has shown he can win with his size, speed, or elusiveness. Another mismatch nightmare to know who is looking like a steal. I believe the playmaker is looking for his first offer.
