Linebacker Film Review With Major Spring Risers Headlining

***Use Code “ScottyB30” for 30% off your subscription*** As we begin to approach the high school football season in late August we wanted to look back at prospects in our film room series before we do a preseason update to our 2027 rankings.  Prospects in this series are being reviewed for a number of reasons.  They blew up from where we initially had them based on camp performances, we saw them during the spring/summer wanting to dive more into their junior seasons, we were very high on them while their recruitment is not backing that up, and several of these players are making the move to a new role or school.   Today we dive into the Film Room with 2027 Linebackers!    Boston College commit is a baller at linebacker.  He can cover downfield making plays on the ball including interceptions while blowing up plays for forced fumbles.  Flies to the ball!  He explodes through the hole getting in the backfield and runs sideline to sideline in pursuit.  Thumper up front that fills the gaps and has pass rush ability when blitzing.  Relentless pursuit and non stop motor.  The coverage ability in space is what makes him a P4 backer separating him from others!     Schlendardt was a major stock riser this spring and the Maine South linebacker committed to Syracuse.  Outside linebacker that has pass rush potential with his power rushing moves blowing up backs that try to pick him up.  Could even play some edge at the next level with how well he gets after the QB.  His straight line pursuit to the ball is outstanding.  Sound player technically that shuffles to the spot he needs to get to and then goes in for the kill.  Consistently makes plays behind the line of scrimmage.     The 6'1" 200 pound linebacker is an absolute steal for Western Illinois.  I am not quite sure exactly what power 4 programs do not see here.  He is a thick bodied linebacker with explosive athleticism.  Elite tackler that reads the play in front of him and attacks.  So good in coverage too as we saw him in person pick off multiple passes including a pick six.  Explosive pass rusher that brings down opponents in space.     The linebacker from BCC is 6'4" 200 pounds and committed to Michigan State.  Really helped his stock a ton during the spring in camps.  Great size and runs extremely well for his size.  The OLB tackles well in space flying to the ball.  Pretty good in coverage in the slot being able to make plays on the ball in the air.  Flashes some pass rush moves as well getting after the QB.  Will run down a ball carrier even when the play is away from him.     The linebacker goes 6'4" 225 pounds.  Good length and wraps up tremendously well.  Instinctual player that sifts through garbage to make the play in the backfield.  Runs well sideline to sideline.  Also brings some pass rush pop as a blitzer.  Hits really hard and runs very well.  Could see him transitioning to an edge rusher at his size.     The Flyers linebacker attacks the ball downhill with his speed and acceleration to the ball.  Runs through opponents when making the tackle along with wrapping up down low.  Has some pass rush ability getting after the QB.  Stuffs vs the run coming up in the hole to make the play.     Little is coming off a season at Kaneland where the 6'1" linebacker posted 41 tackles, 7 TFL, 3 PBU, and 2 interceptions.  Instinctual linebacker that plays with a ton of speed and power.  Physical getting through blocks to the ball carrier.  Attacks and closes with straight lines to the ball.  Comfortable in coverage as well being able to make things happen on the ball in space.     Butt is a thick bodied 6'2" 232 pound linebacker that had 64 tackles, 15 TFL, 1 sack, and 18 pressures.  Thick bodied linebacker that is a thumper up the middle blowing up holes in between the tackles while also being able to run and close in space.  Technically sound tackler that breaks down opponent then explodes through them. Under the radar guy!     The Tinley Park 6'0" 220 pound linebacker is coming off a junior year where he recorded 45 tackles, 8 TFL, 2 PBU, 3 FF, 1 sack, and 17 pressures.  The backer plays with a ton of physicality as an OLB with edge rushing potential.  Hits with absolute force!  Fights through blocks making plays against the run in the backfield.  Takes sound angles to the ball.     We saw him a couple times in person a year ago along with in camp settings.  The 6'1" 185 pound linebacker from the metro east is a tenacious player that can cover in the slot while laying the hammer as a tackler.  Instinctual player that will size up the play then tackle low in the run game.  Fills the gap when playing in the box.  Can really run!     Pullin goes 6'0" 215 pounds tallying 70 tackles, 4 TFL, and 2 FF as a junior.  Run stuffer that fills the gap and wraps up in the box.  The stocky backer runs pretty well to the ball taking the fastest route to the ball career with the ability to run down guys sideline to sideline.     Forbes is an undersized linebacker at 5'9" and 200 pounds.  Big season last year racking up 80 tackles and 7 TFLs.  The stocky middle linebacker diagnoses plays and fills the gap in the run game.  Gets off blocks well.  Flashes in coverage maybe being able to play some safety at the next level as well.
