Deshawn Warner Deshawn Warner 6’4″ | 225 lbs | DL Desert Edge | 2024 State AZ has made a name for himself as a rusher off the edge. The Kansas commit is long and displays good bend to corner to the quarterback. He is a playmaker scoring two touchdowns last season forcing fumbles sacking the quarterback. Winning with power is something Warner can do as well pushing tackles in the pocket. His quickness shines as a run defender as he can beat lineman off the ball and make plays. Kansas is getting a player with a ton upside with Warner.
Noah Carter Noah Carter 6’3″ | 225 lbs | DL Centennial | 2024 State AZ is another edge defender who is headed to Washington. Carter played both ways for Centennial in 2022 displaying his atheltcism on both sides of the ball. The Washington Commit has excellent bend which allows him to corner to the quarterback with ease. He depends on a chop and rip to win on the outside while be able to push the pocket with power. On offense Carter displays great hands and ability to make plays after the catch. It will be a tough match for the Desert Edge offensive line.
Aundre Gibson Aundre Gibson 5’11” | 175 lbs | DB Desert Edge | 2024 State AZ is another Kansas commit for Desert Edge on defense. The 5’11 180 pound cornerback is smooth when he transitions which allows him to stay in phase with receivers. He displays good ball skills and can find the football in the air to make plays. In zone coverage Gibson understands his responsibilities exhibiting his intelligence at the position. Where Gibson is special is as returner in special teams. He has a chance to take to the house every time he touches the football with his speed in the open field. Gibson
Kenny Worthy Kenny Worthy 6’0″ | 175 lbs | ATH Centennial | 2024 State AZ is an explosive player himself out of Centennial High School. Listed as an athlete Worthy displays versatility making an impact in all three phases of the game. As a corner he is a fluid athlete who can change directions during transitions. He is tough in press coverage displaying physicality at the line of scrimmage. As a receiver he is a deep threat who does a great job of tracking the football in the air. His speed is then felt working special teams where he is a dynamic kick returner giving a spark to that side of the ball.
This game is loaded on defense and Jonathan Kamara Jonathan Kamara 6’4″ | 205 lbs | LB Desert Edge | 2024 State AZ adds him name to the bunch. Kamara played cornerback last season in Orlando but will play linebacker for Desert Edge. He is a sure tackler in the open field with great form and knowing when to breakdown. The Kansas commit has good instincts and a nose for the ball helping make plays by creating fumbles on ball carriers. When needed he can move around the defense with ability to cover wide receivers from the linebacker position. Kamara is a modern linebacker with his coverage upside.
