Today’s update is a mixed bag – some 204 graduates, a few post-graduate updates, and a 2023 graduate we have not yet celebrated. See where these young men are continuing their academic and athletic careers below.
Brown, who was recently ranked by Prep Redzone as the #6 linebacker in New Jersey’s 2024 recruiting class, is a ‘backer who gets in the action early and often. Needless to say it appears that Brown handles his recruitment the same way he handles his business on the field. Initially a recruitment I missed, back on June 23 Brown announced that he has decided he will be heading north of Rasmey to the Carrier Dome and playing for the Syracuse Orange.

In 2023 it should come as no surprise that a Jaguar can change their spots to stripes. That is exactly what Covington, a former East Orange Jaguar standout, has done – changing his Jaguar spots for Lion stripes. If he has not already Covington will be arriving on the campus of Lincoln University, a revered HBCU, to suit up for the Lions. It is unclear where the 5’9″ talent will play positionally, but my guess is defensive back.
Stull is a dynamic athlete who can help a team in a variety of ways offensively, defensively, and on special teams. The Lawrenceville School product has recently announced his intentions for the 2023 season, which will take him through his anticipated graduation date of the spring 2024. It appears that Stull will be changing prep school programs, leaving the Garden State and heading just up north to Connecticut’s St. Thomas Moore, which one of the Constitution State’s top college preparatory boarding schools.
A prospect that a colleague of mine recently identified as a “Name for the Summer” has recently pledged his commitment to a certain institution for the fall of 2024. Brown, the state’s #2 tight end prospect as per Prep Redzone, plans to graduate The Hun School this spring and attend UPenn next fall. This is a big man (6’7″), who is a big-time recruit (NJ’s #2 TE), who is going to a big-time academic school (Ivy League). Needless to say, this is a big win all around.

Philly keeps planting their flag in New Jersey. The recent trend of future Owls flocking to Temple continues, as Paramus Catholic’s Laing will be heading southbound on the New Jersey Turnpike after his prep career is over. Prep Redzone’s #7 overall and #2 ranked defensive back for the class of 2024 committed a day ago and seems as excited as could be about his recent announcement. Temple beat out other FBS programs such as Boston College, Syracuse, West Virginia, Michigan State, and Maryland – amongst many other FBS and FCS schools – to earn Laing’s commitment.
