Continue ReadingJahsear Whittington Jahsear Whittington 6’1″ | 280 lbs | DL Imhotep Charter | 2024 State PA has ranked atop the Pennsylvania 2024 DL rankings after every single update, dating back to the year 2021. That alone is an impressive feat. Numerous names have received consideration, yet no one has the complete skill set comparable to Imhotep’s perennial All-State defender. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Whittington blossom into the prospect he is today, beginning as an unpolished yet promising inside presence, to what he is today, the most dominant interior force the state has to offer. Pitt gets to claim their man. I will say, this update two prospects flirted with that one spot. The first being Hempfield’s Deyvid Palepale Deyvid Palepale 6’3″ | 300 lbs | DL Manheim Township | 2024 State PA . We never have him mentioned because of timing, with possible transfers to IMG holding up the process. Palepale is phenomenal in his own right, yet we can safely say I had no intentions of placing him above Whittington. Mylachi Williams Mylachi Williams 6’5″ | 220 lbs | DL Bonner-Prendie | 2024 State PA is also on his heels. Although the two play two entirely different roles, Williams is gaining serious steam in the recruiting world. I cannot deny Whittington’s consistency throughout the years, however.
Mylachi Williams Mylachi Williams 6’5″ | 220 lbs | DL Bonner-Prendie | 2024 State PA makes the leap, from a Watchlist kid to top 100, now to second overall among 2024 defensive linemen. Quite the meteoric rise. Similarly to Whittington, I’ve had the chance to see Williams grow into the prospect he is today. I got told left and right by those at Bonner that this kid was going to turn into something special. They were correct, more so than I ever imagined. Some media outlets have Mylachi Williams Mylachi Williams 6’5″ | 220 lbs | DL Bonner-Prendie | 2024 State PA as the top overall prospect in his class. I have a tough time ignoring what other prospects have done throughout the years, so an exponential leap like that is a bit unwarranted. That being said, Mylachi Williams Mylachi Williams 6’5″ | 220 lbs | DL Bonner-Prendie | 2024 State PA , with elite senior tape, is very much in the running for ANY spot on our rankings. The young man has put in the work behind the scenes, there’s no doubting that.

This list is loaded to the brim with pass rushers. Eight of the ten listed can be deemed as collegiate EDGE rushers. Yet two stand out as interior linemen, those being top-ranked prospect Jahsear Whittington Jahsear Whittington 6’1″ | 280 lbs | DL Imhotep Charter | 2024 State PA , and Hempfield’s Deyvid Palepale Deyvid Palepale 6’3″ | 300 lbs | DL Manheim Township | 2024 State PA , both of which placing inside the top three at their respective positions. Palepale has eluded our rankings for logistical reasons. We placed him off after an IMG transfer was expected, then couldn’t get him back in after announcing he’s returning to Hempfield. Finally, although pretty late in the process, we can rank Palepale accordingly. A debut top 15 rank, tongue-in-cheek when typing that out, however. Palepale recently announced his commitment to USC, one of the few prospects to commit to the Trojans out of Pennsylvania in recent years. The Pac-12 is stealing real talent out of the state recently, with Aiden Black Aiden Black 6’3″ | 225 lbs | TE Delaware Valley | 2024 State PA and Khari Reid Khari Reid 5’10” | 165 lbs | DB Neumann – Goretti | 2024 State PA committing to rival Stanford.
Ty Yuhas Ty Yuhas 6’4″ | 250 lbs | DL Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2024 State PA lands inside the top five for a second consecutive update. Yuhas sits inside the top tier of the state’s defensive linemen. I’d argue he’s the last sure-fire Power Five prospect on the list, we’ve ranked him accordingly. Yuhas recently worked at 210ths camp where Avery Hawkins had this to say about his performance.rn
Ty definitely asserted his dominance in numerous instances Sunday. He has a swift get-off and does everything with a low pad level. Yuhas looked good synchronizing his hand violence with his pass-rushing moves during one-on-ones. He is proportionately built with good athleticism for a DL of his size. Yuhas was obviously a person everybody wanted to see since he’s already committed to Pitt, and he didn’t disappoint.
The five through ten spots on this list are all within 30 spots of one another. Emmaus’ Mario Landino Mario Landino 6’4″ | 260 lbs | DL Emmaus | 2024 State PA ranks above the rest, standing at the top of that second-tier level. James Madison figures out a way to pull yet another top 50 talent out of the state, the program is continuing to grow in popularity among Pennsylvania recruits, with good reason. Landino is severely underrated by other media outlets, presumably because they haven’t seen the 6’4 pass rusher for themselves. A top five ranking, as well as a top 50 overall placement, stands as the highest percentile placement given to Landino since he’s been on the list.
Deshon Dodson Deshon Dodson 6’4″ | 260 lbs | DL Neumann-Goretti | 2024 State PA was inside the top 100, although I feel we were a bit too harsh on his previous ranking. We feel better about his current placement, we think it better reflects his current recruitment. Rutgers might be in on the Neumann-Goretti pass rusher, while UNC Charlotte also offered the young man this year. Dodson saw a huge influx of offers come after his sophomore season, yet we are unsure if any of the programs have reoffered the young man based on his junior tape. Still, the kid has one hell of a body that could be molded by the right staff. Dodson could see a next-level move to OL.
Nick Slogik Nick Slogik 6’5″ | 230 lbs | DL Bishop McDevitt | 2024 State PA remains inside and around the top 50 overall. From a selfish perspective, I’m excited to hear that Nick Slogik Nick Slogik 6’5″ | 230 lbs | DL Bishop McDevitt | 2024 State PA has officially focused on the football side of his future. I know he has for some time, yet his commitment to East Carolina solidifies that notion. The supreme multi-sport athlete can also be classified as a multi-alignment star, as East Carolina could very well like Nick Slogik Nick Slogik 6’5″ | 230 lbs | DL Bishop McDevitt | 2024 State PA at tight end as opposed to defensive line. I liken his skillset to rush the passer, either way, ECU is getting a stud in the trenches, a steal for the program.
Jayzen Flint Jayzen Flint 6’4″ | 230 lbs | DL West Catholic | 2024 State PA has bounced around the top 100 over the past years. Flint, now committed to Boston College, jumps back into the top 60. Flint is a kid that could easily jump back into the top five after his senior-year tape drops in November. We spoke about how loaded 50-80 is with pass-rushers, a ton of movement is expected after the next update. Flint is expected to separate himself from the pack. He, much like Slogik, has a real chance to play tight end this Fall and possibly even in the future at BC.
Marshall has to be through the roof after landing a legitimate top-five capable defensive lineman. Whether we move him up to three again, or back out of the top ten, it doesn’t matter in the long run. North Allegheny is loaded, their defensive motor will be led by Chmura up front. A massive presence inside, you don’t see nearly 300 pounds of mass move this well. Out of everyone on this list, I like Chmura to be the most athletic when considering height/weight ratios. I wonder if Marshall has any plans to move Chmura to offensive line moving forward.

This is the highest Michael Hershey has ever placed on our ranks, yet somehow, I still think it’s a bit too low. Outstanding wrestling career on top of what he’s done on the turd, Michael Hershey, despite landing at ten, flirted with the top five. Just three days after receiving an offer out of Maryland, the Spring-Grove star announced his decision to commit to Terps Football. Maryland doesn’t always bring in the best talent out of PA, especially recently, yet their win in Michael Hershey and Anthony Robsock Anthony Robsock 6’6″ | 260 lbs | OL Central Dauphin | 2024 State PA should have Terp fans feeling good about their presence in the Keystone State.
