Preseason Preview: Emerald Ridge

<!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Overview</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Emerald Ridge comes off an impressive 10-3 campaign where they made a seminfals appearence. They dropped a close 42-28 semifinals game against Kennedy Catholic, and will look to revamp and have a serious shot to make another deep run and potentially win a title here in 2023. They'll return a number of impact players on both sides of the ball, which starts with standout QB and Eatern Washington commit [player_tooltip player_id='115343' first='Jake' last='Schakel']. I've been impressed and raving about Shakel for years, and I think he'll have an even bigger season that last year given the leap in maturity and chemistry with WR [player_tooltip player_id='158405' first='Tony' last='Harste']. In 2022, Shakel put up 3,287 yards passing and 37 TD's, along with 2 TD's on the ground. Harste was a major part of that passing attack as well, snagging 80 receptions for 1,166 yards and 13 TD's. Another big time player that will return that turned out to be a TD machine in 2022 was [player_tooltip player_id='158342' first='Gio' last='Kafentzis'], who hauled in 66 receptions for 970 yards and 11 TD's. Kafentzis was also a ball hawk on the defensive side of the ball snagging 3 INT's, and they'll also return [player_tooltip player_id='1108483' first='Sean' last='Tutty'] who was a fly around player and an absolute menace roaming the field.
