Every single one of these prospects is a prospect I would throw on my “offer now” sheet if I was a college football recruiter, as some already have a handful of offers while others are still getting their feet wet on their recruiting trail. Let’s meet Part II’s standouts from Augustana.
Lofton O’Groske
Lofton O’Groske
Lofton certainly impressed me most when we got into the 1v1 session at the Augustana prospect camp a couple Mondays ago. His catch radius showed out significantly and I enjoyed watching how polished his balance was when he had to adjust to the ball thrown off his line as he showed really fluid instincts with his change of direction on a variety of routes especially his intermediate routes. His determination also popped out at Augustana, as this kid was going to give high effort to make every catch possible that was in his whereabouts as he had an impressive diving catch right in front of my eyes during one rep during the Vikings camp. On tape, Lofton shows off a fluid first step off his route and has smooth fluidity from start to finish. His catch radius also pops out on nearly early rep, as this kid has strong extension with his length that I believe play bigger than his 6’2 190 pound measurables. Lofton showed off the Augustana what they wanted to see, and got his first offer from the Vikings slightly after camp and I wouldn’t be surprised if his recruiting picks up in the NSIC significantly. Cole showed off plenty of similarities from an in-person evaluation from what I watched on tape recently, and showed out in the athletic group of defensive backs that were in attendance at Augustana. The first skillset that intrigued me with Cole was his excellent footwork, as he showed off solid twitch and balance with his ability to stop, go and stop again as Cole was frequently in ideal positioning in the reps I caught out of him. On tape, Cole shows good instinction with his ball tracking ability as an athlete that with his range can fly from out of the play-box into the mesh very quickly with how much twitch he has with his agility. He is another prospect on this list that doesn’t get enough credit for his length at 5’11 as when Cole got in the air at Augustana and on tape, he showed off well-versed athletic mobility. A 2025 prospect ranked in our top 25 prospects to watch for in 2023 for sure. Twitter

Although slightly out of my scouting region, Bryce was a Missouri wide receiver prospect that was one of my early pop outs at the Augustana prospect camp due to looking at his athletic frame with a well-built body type for the WR position. He took what I saw into the testing session too, with noticeable explosion and a word I will use commonly with football prospects, fluidity thru his strides of his 40 yard dash at 6’5 205 pounds. When I watched some clips on Bryce from his junior season, I believe this kid could project as a very athletic tight end with great hands on and off the ball, as the one clip I watched first was when he drove a cornerback into the next area code 35+ yard up field which shows off a prospect that likely always blocks until that whistle is blown. He also showed off route-creativity that I liked to see with no give up in his skillsets in sight. Bryce is another prospect that walked out of Augustana with an offer as it is very clear to me the Vikings staff saw exactly what I saw out of Bryce is Sioux Falls as a prospect that’s stock is starting to rise this summer with his offer sheet.

If you want to find a prospect that was all over my notepad from the Augustana prospect camp, take a strong look at Sioux Falls Jefferson ATH Dawson Sechser. Dawson has rose significantly since 2022’s Vikings camp as he certainly shows developed footwork. Not only was Dawson impressive with his footwork, but he also showed off excellent pad-level in Indy drills as his athletic mobility with his change of direction certainly stood out in my eyes. Dawson didn’t just show off pad-level either, he showed off a fantastic contact level of physicality and plays WAY above than with the measurables he has in his plethora. The first clip you will see on tape out of Dawson is what I saw at Augustana, ridiculously physical at 6’0 185 pounds and plays with a significant amount of range at safety for the Cavaliers, who so far in their early existence breed some great college prospects in their secondary. Dawson has a handful of D2 offers and a FCS PWO and I wouldn’t be surprised for more NSIC offers to come his way and more FCS opportunities with just how much he’s rose from 2022 to 2023.

Ethan is a late first look prospect that I got my first live evaluation of at Augustana a couple weeks back and a defensive back prospect that passed that early test for me. What was it that popped out early on Ethan? In early warm ups Ethan intrigued me with his agility from every warmup from start to finish as I liked too his attention to detail in those early reps. Watching Ethan later in the camp session, you can certainly see the upside that Ethan is growing, as he showed development skillsets with his pad-level however, is a defensive back that I thought picked up new concepts and techniques quickly during the Augustana prospect camp. What stands out on tape with Ethan is his persistent ball-tracking skills as he in the first two reps on tape in press-man sticks to his receive like glue with his 6’0 length adding to the size this kid already has built for the next-level. Ethan is certainly a prospect that has the skillset to play on Saturdays in my eyes. Plus a wrestling background adds to that in my eyes for those college coaches out there. Tape
Brycen was a defensive end prospect later I evaluated later in the day with the defensive line group that showed why he is finally getting some recruiting traction this summer. I liked watching his hand technique and the softness he showed off within his shedding ability. Not only was Brycen efficent getting off blocks, it was the instinct he showed off getting into the backfield in 1v1s that caught my eyes. I also liked his athleticism in his bend which consistently lines up with his junior tape. That tape also shows off a DE prospect that with those soft hands I mentioned also have some developing elusiveness with his get off as Brycen gets out of the inside box like a linebacker at 6’0 235 pounds. He certainly is a prospect that is under the radar and is 100% a prospect you go outside the measurables threshold for, as he can add plenty of frame in a college football weight training program.
