WV Preseason Spotlight: Harrison County (Part Two)

Today will be part two of Harrison County. Brown Jr is a stocky prospect right now at 5'10 275 but that size really aids him as an interior defensive lineman with his leverage. Being a shorter defensive lineman right now, he gets under opposing offensive linemen very well and is a strong athlete for his age. The rising junior also moves really well for an interior lineman and showed good feet and fluidity. He uses his hands well and is consistent in block shed. Bridgeport moved him around on the defensive line a little bit last season but with his current size and build I see him sticking inside at the next level as a 0-3 technique. Brown Jr eats up space well and is very good in run defense. Clevenger is a compactly built 5'9 200 that is a strong and physical runner and blocker. He spent most of his time as a fullback in 2021 as a sophomore but saw more time as a running back last season. He doesn't have blazing speed but he can get you some tough yards in short-yardage situations. Clevenger can also roll out in play action and catch passes or even line him up as an H-back in the passing game. I liked what I saw from him as a blocker and he's willing to do the dirty work for his team. Parado is only 5'7 140 but he plays well above his weight class. I was not expecting him to be as physical as he was but he really proved me wrong. Parado is a quick and speedy defensive back that really flies around during the entirety of the play. He can run with any receiver and even if he's giving up quite a few inches of height he will still make a play on the ball. He reads passes well and can change direction and break on the ball as well as I've seen so far when evaluating defensive backs. Being a smaller player, Parado does a great job of going low on ball carriers and is a very sure tackler for a DB. He is certainly not afraid of contact and appears to enjoy proving that he's not too small to be physical. Byrd's [player_tooltip player_id='1119216' first='Rylan' last='Rock'] is a versatile athlete for the Eagles who also shines on the baseball field. Rock is a well-put-together athlete and has good size at 6'1 190. He was a nearly .400 hitter and 3.40 ERA pitcher in baseball this past season which speaks to the caliber of athlete he is. On the football field, Rock plays a little quarterback, receiver, safety, and linebacker for his team. It's on the defensive side of the ball where I like him the most as a linebacker though. I could see him playing at the next level there if he chooses to play football but will likely play baseball in college. Rock is good in run defense but is athletic enough to drop back into coverage and defend the pass. Ford was another one of my defensive line standouts from the GCOH Performance Camp and I liked what I saw on his junior highlight tape. He's also a stockier DL prospect at 6'0 245 and has some versatility on where he could play along the defensive line. Ford primarily played inside as a junior and I could see him adding weight and staying there in college but it wouldn't surprise me to see him playing on the end either. I like the way he flies off the ball and is at full speed as soon as the ball is snapped. You have to be a tough and physical player to play for the Bridgeport Indians and Ford certainly fits that description. He plays with good leverage and extends his arms well to fight off blockers.
