WV Preseason Spotlight: Doddridge County

Today we will focus on Doddridge County. The 2025 RB/LB saw plenty of snaps on both sides of the ball in 2022 on a very talented Bulldogs team that reached the Class A State Semifinals. Snyder was his team's second-leading rusher among some talented seniors and was fourth in total tackles on defense. Snyder saw his fair share of carries in the Bulldogs' power run offense and averaged an impressive 7.7 yards per carry. He would total over 500 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns while splitting time with two seniors. However, it was on defense where I was really impressed with the rising junior. For a young player, Snyder really flies around and is an aggressive player. I like the way he gets downhill and powers through the line to make tackles. He goes full speed as soon as the ball is snapped and there's no hesitation in his game. The 6'2 300 rising senior has the prototypical size for an interior defensive lineman, and he used that size well last season. Hart is exactly what you want for an interior lineman and he controlled the middle of the line last year. That position doesn't normally get the glory and praise others get but it's a key position for Class A teams that often see run-heavy offenses. Hart was explosive off the ball and often pushed opposing offensive linemen back and was able to eat up blockers for his linebackers to make plays. He does all the little things that often won't show up in the box score or stat sheet, but he does his job well. You aren't going to ask him to pass rush much but you don't need him to when he's helping plug the middle and stopping the run. The rising senior played mostly left tackle in 2022 and really held down the blind side for his team. Cross is an athletic tackle who is still working to add weight to his frame but shows a lot of promise as a blocker. He has good feet and moves well which really aided him when getting to the second level and in pass protection. Although the Bulldogs don't throw it a ton, the clips of pass blocking he had were good. His athleticism allows him to have good footwork and he showed he has the strength to push opposing players around when run blocking. Thomas was the second-leading receiver for the Bulldogs last season as a freshman and should be the premier target this season with four of the top five leading receivers graduating. He has very good size for a young player at 6'1 180 and showed he had sure hands last year. Thomas was a steady option when the Bulldogs threw the ball in their run-heavy offense and was a big play machine. He averaged nearly 20 yards per reception and almost always made a big play when he got the ball. Thomas also lead his team in interceptions and was a ballhawk at cornerback for the Bulldogs. Dixon is listed at 5'4 120 so he's still due for a growth spurt but I liked what I saw from the rising sophomore last season on JV. He's an athletic option at QB that can run and scramble a bit and make plays with his legs. I liked what I saw with his arm though and he made some impressive throws for a young QB. Dixon was able to hit his receivers in stride and was impressive when throwing on the run. He made throws at all levels of the passing game and showed he already has pretty good arm strength for a player of his size and age. Dixon throws with nice touch and can put a high arc on his throws that falls right into his receivers' hands.
