These guys have done more than enough to prove elite status, and they’re all gearing up to lead their teams deep into the postseason this fall. From Saline to Waterford to Saginaw and many places in between, here’s my analysis of our top 6 Quarterbacks in the 2024 class!
CJ Carr CJ Carr 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Saline | 2024 State MI | Saline | Hudl
(Notre Dame Commit)
I can’t say anything about CJ that hasn’t already been said. He’s one of the most sought-after QBs in the nation, and he’s got all the tools to dominate at Notre Dame. CJ was raised on football, and he lives and breathes it. CJ is the most consistent QB in this class and has by far the highest floor of any QB. He’s a fundamentally-sound QB with elite footwork, accuracy, and IQ. I just saw multiple reports of CJ being one of the top performers at Elite 11, and it’s no surprise. Although he’s the best QB in the 2024 class, he’ll be under some pressure this year with a harder-than-usual schedule, with the pressure to finally make a state championship run.
Isaiah Marshall Isaiah Marshall 6'0" | 210 lbs | QB Southfield A&T | 2024 State MI | Southfield A&T | Hudl
(Kansas Commit)
Zeke is one of the best playmakers I’ve ever seen, and he seems to be able to turn in on in clutch moments. A&T proved to be one of the most high-powered offenses in the state last season, and much of that is thanks to Marshall’s big play ability. The only big weakness I see in his game is he sometimes holds the ball too long, but other than that, his traits are great-elite. The arm strength is great, as he can make any throw downfield with impressive velocity. He’s able to throw with touch or rifle it into tighter windows. He’s also great at extending plays and getting out of the pocket- but he does a good job at staying in the pocket unless under pressure. Kansas has themselves a great QB prospect, and I’ve seen Kansas fans on Twitter go crazy over him.
Kalieb Osborne Kalieb Osborne 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Waterford Mott | 2024 State MI | Waterford Mott | Hudl
(Toledo Commit)
Although Kalieb is committed to Toledo, he just took an official visit and received an offer from Syracuse. The significance of this visit and offer is yet to be determined. Though in terms of his overall play, he’s undoubtedly the #3 QB in the class. Standing at a tall 6’4″, he has the ideal body type for a next-level QB. Also, with just over 2700 yards passing and 1700 yards rushing, he’s one of Michigan’s most statistically dominant players. In addition, perhaps the best player in Waterford Mott history.
Kabieb is a pretty consistent passer but may need to improve fundamentally with his footwork and throwing motion at the next level. Most of his passes are accurate, but his accuracy doesn’t quite reach the consistency of a Power-5 recruit. He’s also a great runner at the high school level, but he’ll need to continue to improve his athletic ability at the next level. Of course, his physical traits make him really stand out, and that’s why he has such a high ceiling. I hope he’s able to make a name for himself at the Division 1 level!
Preston Otter Preston Otter 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Phillips Exeter Academy | 2025 MI | Nouvel Catholic Central | Hudl
It’s been quite the Spring for Preston, as he’s earned 3 GLIAC offers, with likely more on the way. Seriously, I think the entire GLIAC will be after Otter soon enough. His tape reminds me a lot of Cade Peterson HS highlights (GVSU’s current QB), and they have similar body types. Preston is excellent at throwing on the run, and his throw power is great. The accuracy on the deep ball is there, and he’s got some nice touch on it.
I think Preston could improve in his pocket presence as I think he can be a bit run-happy at times, but when on the run, I think he’s more accurate and athletic than Cade was in his High School days. If Preston really does excellent this year, maybe a MAC school will take a chance on him. For now, I could see him easily going to any GLIAC team and doing very well at a Top-10 Division 2 program.
Zak Olejniczak Zak Olejniczak 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Lapeer | 2024 State MI | Lapeer | Hudl
Zak is another one of those guys who’s had a great spring, and he’s another GLIAC prospect for me. I truly love watching Zak work, as he throws with elite confidence and works year-round on his craft. His accuracy is consistent, and he’s one of the best 7v7 players out there. He’s gone into camp after camp and turned heads, and when I’ve seen him, his form and release time are great. On film, Zak has a tendency to stick to his first read, his footwork can get wonky at times, and his pocket presence could improve. Still, all of his tools are there, and he’s been working his tail off and will continue to through this fall. Without a doubt, Zak will lead Lapeer to another amazing offensive season. GLIAC is where I see Zak landing, and I’m confident he’ll be able to produce at that level!
Andrew Schuster Andrew Schuster 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Chippewa Valley | 2024 State MI | Chippewa Valley | Hudl
Schuster is another super intriguing prospect and another guy who’s had a great off-season. He’s a playmaker through and through, as his 7v7 performances this offseason have been eye-popping at times. There are a few throws from his offseason competition that will leave you speechless, and the talent surrounding him at Chippewa Valley makes me extremely excited for his senior season. Andrew’s throwing motion is sound, footwork good, and he’s been constantly improving his ability to read a defense. Andrew proves to be a super smart, skilled player that I view as a GLIAC prospect with the potential smarts to be seen by Ivy-league programs.
