This weekend I have the privilege to attend the Oregon All-State Game and some of the practices before the big games on Saturday, June 24th. The Oregon All-State Game is a middle school (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) all-star game where the athletes are invited to stay at Oregon State University for three nights and practice with their all-star team using the college facilities, leading up to the games that weekend at Crescent Valley High School. In this article, I will talk about some of the guys that stood out after attending a couple of practices this week. Disclaimer: I spent most of the time with the 8th-grade teams as it is hard to scout the younger kids with so much development ahead of them, but there will be a couple of 7th-graders mentioned.

[player_tooltip player_id='632957' first='Josiah' last='Molden'] DB 27' Future High School: West Linn

Josiah is as good as advertised. If he lines up on a wide receiver, the quarterback might as well not even look his way. Against the run, he is not afraid to come down and make a hit. His athleticism and fluidity at such a young age are special, and I cannot wait to see him at the high school level.

[player_tooltip player_id='796788' first='Mai'King' last='West'] RB/LB 27' Future High School: Lake Oswego

If anyone looked ready for high school football, it was Mai'King. He is well-built, 6'1, 180, and can excel anywhere on the field. I watched him play mostly running back, where he was athletic and powerful with the ball in his hands. Mai'King will be one of the best players in the class of 2027.

[player_tooltip player_id='797128' first='Cameron' last='Elijah'] WR 27' Future High School: Lake Oswego

Cameron is a very impressive wide receiver for his age, as his technique is phenomenal. Elijah is very fast and quick, rarely takes a false step off the line of scrimmage, and his ability to sink his hips is impressive. I am excited to watch Cameron develop into one of the best receivers in Oregon.

[player_tooltip player_id='796492' first='Tevita' last='Lata'] LB 27' Future High School: North Salem

Tevita is impressive on the defensive side of the ball. He flies around and makes plays all over the field and has the potential to be one of the best linebackers in Oregon. He is a big, strong kid with all the tools to make it work.

[player_tooltip player_id='652600' first='Carson' last='Smiley'] QB 27' Future High School: West Linn

Carson is an impressive-looking quarterback. At the practice I watched, Carson delivered some impressive throws with a pretty throwing motion. He is comfortable in the pocket and has the build to exceed at the high school level. It will be interesting to see what happens with the loaded West Linn QB room.

[player_tooltip player_id='937233' first='Sloan' last='Baker'] QB 27' Future High School: West Linn

Speaking of the loaded QB room for West Linn, [player_tooltip player_id='937233' first='Sloan' last='Baker'] is also a very impressive kid that will be a Lion. Sloan was impressive to me because although he doesn't have the same intriguing build as Carson, he is athletic and throws a pretty ball. He will be one of Oregon's best high school quarterbacks in a couple of years.

[player_tooltip player_id='796643' first='Hudson' last='Holcomb'] OL 27' Future High School: Santiam Christian

Hudson has the type of size and length that should have colleges taking a look at him soon. He is listed at 6'3, 240. Hudson could be the top Oregon lineman in this 2027 class if developed properly.

[player_tooltip player_id='402413' first='Josiah' last='Hawkins'] RB 27' Future High School: Cascade

Josiah excited me because he may be the most athletic kid at the event. He is a speedster who will take off if given the space. His quads are massive for a kid his age. I expect Josiah to be one of the best players in Oregon in a couple of years.

[player_tooltip player_id='937306' first='Taylor' last='Carnahan'] DE 27' Future High School: McMinnville

Taylor stood out to me because of his size and athleticism off the edge. He will need to add some muscle as he is listed at 6'1, 180, but he has the frame that should put on muscle nicely and not allow him to lose his athleticism. Taylor is a kid to look out for.

Benjamin Chamberlain TE 27' Future High School: Burns

Benjamin is a big and athletic tight end for his age. He is listed at 6'0, 152, and is not afraid to get physical in the run game. He has the frame to be an exciting high school player.

[player_tooltip player_id='936846' first='Leonardo' last='Correani'] LB 27' Future High School: Lincoln

Leonardo was impressive as the middle linebacker of the defense. If you noticed, there are not too many linemen on this list, and part of that reason is that Leonardo was a blitzing machine who made multiple plays in the backfield. At 5'10, 195, he has the ideal size for a linebacker and the athleticism to make him an exciting player.

Michael Ratcliffe TE 28' Future High School: Wilsonville

Michael is the first 7th grader on this list and for a good reason. Michael is 6'6 as a middle schooler. He has some more developing to do as his route running and hands are not quite there yet, but he should be one of the best tight ends in Oregon in the coming years.

[player_tooltip player_id='937284' first='Drayton' last='Decker'] OL 27' Future High School: McNary

Drayton impressed me because he was pancaking people at practice. At 6'2, 225, he is an exciting lineman prospect because he is still athletic for being such a big kid. He also plays center, and knowing how to snap the ball is always a plus for a young lineman.

[player_tooltip player_id='937332' first='Cash' last='Mead'] QB 27' Future High School: Molalla

Cash is a 6'0 athlete. Quarterback may not be Cash's position in high school, as he looked more impressive on the run to me than in the pocket, but he is still solid when asked to throw. He also has the frame to be a great quarterback, so I am excited to see what happens with him in high school because the athleticism is there.

[player_tooltip player_id='937334' first='Parker' last='Edwards'] DL 27' Future High School: Sheldon

Parker is the confident and nasty defensive lineman you want on your team. At 6'2, 215, he is quite strong and athletic. Parker made multiple plays in the backfield at practice and will be a great player for Sheldon.

[player_tooltip player_id='937281' first='Tripp' last='Johansen'] DL 27' Future High School: Sheldon

Very similar to his teammate Parker, Tripp is a 6'0, 215 defensive lineman who is physical and athletic. He was also in the backfield plenty of times, and the two of them will make quite the duo at Sheldon.

[player_tooltip player_id='862835' first='John' last='Gayton'] RB 27' Future High School: McDaniel

John is a smaller back, but he is quick and agile. I am excited to watch John's development because I feel like he will be one of the best runners in Oregon in a couple of years.

[player_tooltip player_id='1609785' first='Taison' last='Cepeda'] RB 28' Future High School: Tigard

One of the only two 7th graders on this list, Taison impressed me as he is a fast and fluid runner who can make people miss. He looks comfortable with the ball in his hands, and I am excited to see how he develops.

The Oregon All-State games occur on Saturday, June 24th, at Crescent Valley High School. The 6th grade kicks off at 10:00 am, the 7th grade at 1:30 pm, and the 8th grade kicks off at 5:00 pm. Prep Redzone will have coverage of the games.
