REGION VII-5A
Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes
Derrick Salley Derrick Salley 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Ashley Ridge | 2024 State SC WR – The Swamp Foxes will be breaking in several new faces – including a coaching staff – but Salley should be a huge building block. The 6’4”, 200-pound receiver is coming off a season in which he caught 31 passes for 460 yards and four touchdowns in a mainly run-happy offense. Those numbers could more than double across the board with Salley being a focal point of the offense this coming season.
Fort Dorchester Patriots
Mul-ty Snider Mul-ty Snider 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Fort Dorchester | 2024 State SC WR – Snider isn’t the biggest wide receiver but has the unique ability to get open deep. He runs past defenders with ease and was a huge part of the Patriots team that finished state runner-up. Fort Dorchester will have a new coaching staff this season along with several key departures. If the Patriots can settle on a quarterback quickly, Snider is set to have a breakout season.
Stall Warriors
Hayden Gregory OL/DL – The Warriors went 0-9 last season, but it wasn’t because of the play of Gregory. According to opposing coaches, the junior offensive/defensive lineman had to be game planned for during the week preparations. He’s 6’0”, 260 pounds and plays on the interior of the defense with aggression that plays well. He also has the ability to play guard or tackle on offense and that is a versatile trait to have with two seasons of high school ball remaining.
Summerville Green Wave
Yannick Smith Yannick Smith 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Summerville | 2024 State SC WR – What can’t Smith do? He might be better known for his basketball exploits – he was named the Class 5A Player of the Year by the SCBCA – but football is definitely in his future plans. The 6’3”, 190-pound wide receiver is down to his top five schools to play football at the next level. Wherever he lands will be getting a wide receiver that runs crisp routes and goes up and gets the jump ball in tight situations. Smith knows how to create separation as well. He’s also dangerous in the return game.
West Ashley Wildcats
Terry Grant Terry Grant 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB West Ashley | 2024 State SC ILB – Anyone with the nickname “Truck” must be a serious defender. Grant fits that bill as he has become one of the top senior linebackers in the Palmetto State. The 6’0”, 210-pounder can play inside, outside or on the edge. He plays aggressively but also reads and reacts to plays quickly. Grant averaged double figures in tackles last season and should be around that number again this year.
