It’s an area that oftentimes gets overshadowed by the Detroit or Grand Rapids areas, though this area churns out D1 football players every year. Today, I’ll be discussing five Juniors who are set up for great success after already successful sophomore campaigns!
RB | Jace Clarizio Jace Clarizio 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB East Lansing | 2025 State MI | East Lansing | Hudl
There are more than a few great 2025 Running Backs, and I feel that Jace deserves a tad more attention. This back is a game-changer. There are some plays from his highlights that are nicely blocked, with most running backs being able to get 5-10 yards from said run. With Jace, he’s able to turn those 5-10 yard runs into home runs with his athleticism. There are multiple instances throughout the 2022 season where Jace seems dead to rights, then, with a few quick moves, is suddenly off to the races. It’s great that Central Michigan has already caught on and sent out an offer, and I expect more Division 1 offers to come during this coming season.
QB | Elliot Larner | DeWitt | Hudl
Everything I’ve heard about Elliot has been great. I hear he’s a leader and someone who goes about the QB position the correct way. He’s grown a ton over the past two years when it comes to throwing the football, and he honestly seems to fit the mold as a DeWitt QB. He’s a game-manager type who is fundamentally sound, but he might not have any elite traits, which is completely fine. Right now, he’s a Quarterback you can win (a state title) with, not because of. Elliot is a player who you know will be consistent and poised no matter the situation.
ATH | Nizjai Davidson Nizjai Davidson 5'11" | 190 lbs | ATH Lansing Everett | 2025 MI | Lansing Everett | Hudl
Nizjai is a straight-up gadget out there for Everett. Playing a QB/RB/ATH role, Nizjai had a massive workload for Everett last season and totaled 503 yards and 3 TDs. Another factor is that he totaled 112 carries, which adds up to 14 carries per game. It’s a pretty significant workload, and there were times when he shined with his athleticism. As long as he’s been working hard this offseason, I see Nizjai making many strides this season as he’ll continue to play a big role in this offense.
LB | Logan Doerr Logan Doerr 5'11" | 185 lbs | LB Mason | 2025 State MI | Mason | Hudl
I am surprised by how much I like Logan’s film. He’s an attacking Mike Linebacker, as he reads plays well and makes sure to attack ballcarriers quickly rather than waiting around to make a move. Logan’s eyes are always in the backfield, and he’s able to diagnose plays quickly. He also has a few highlights of getting off blocks. Overall, Logan is a solid linebacker who has an opportunity to show major improvements now that he’s an upperclassman.
OL | Gregory Myles Gregory Myles 6'2" | 280 lbs | OL Haslett | 2025 State MI | Haslett | Hudl
This is a much-improved lineman from a year ago, and I’m excited to see what he can do this fall. Lately, Gregory has displayed a lot better balance and overall aggressiveness in his game. He used to lunge quite a bit and catch himself off-balance, but now, he seems a lot more confident in his abilities.
