Since the Imhotep stars announcement and commitment back in March, the Nittany Lions have since received verbals from three other DBs, bolstering the DB class in a matter of months. Teammates at Mandarin HS in Jacksonville, Florida, both Antoine Belgrave-Shorter and Jon Mitchell joined up with Woseley to lift the corner total to three. Dejuan Lane, a fantastic safety prospect out of Maryland has also joined the group that will develop under Coach Terry Smith.
Coach Troy Taylor picked up a piece to the puzzle far out East in Philadelphia, with Khari Reid Khari Reid 5’10” | 165 lbs | DB Neumann – Goretti | 2024 State PA being the fifth East Coast prospect to commit to the Cardinal. East Coast kids make up nearly half of the current class to date. Khari Reid Khari Reid 5’10” | 165 lbs | DB Neumann – Goretti | 2024 State PA is the sole DB on the Stanford commit list. The program boasts a wonderful history of developing DBs, expect that number to grow sooner rather than later.
Kent State University secured three commitments on the same day, that being just yesterday, June 10th, 2023. Kent State landed just one prospect before the big Saturday, that being Akron’s Dakota Taylor. Kent State saw their out-of-state efforts bear fruit, nabbing Georgia’s Tyler Mckinstry and two fantastic prospects out of Pennsylvania. Ayden Harris Ayden Harris 5’9″ | 205 lbs | RB Downingtown East | 2024 State PA will be mentioned in a later post. Bishop McDevitt’s Jaire Rawlison Jaire Rawlison 5’10” | 180 lbs | DB Bishop McDevitt | 2024 State PA is the third Pennsylvania 2024 DB to announce his commitment, one of the higher-ranking prospects joining a Group of Five program.
Highlights
I can’t find much on any other prospects in the nation that have announced their commitment to Bowling Green thus far. Quite possible that Woodland Hills’ Steven Jenkins Steven Jenkins 6’2″ | 175 lbs | DB Gateway | 2024 State PA , a top-75 prospect in his class, could be the program’s first verbal commit of the 2024 class. If so, they’ve plucked a good one out of Western Pennsylvania. Bowling Green and other neighboring Ohio universities always do well pulling Western PA interest. The program’s efforts have paid off in the form of a top 10 PA DB.
Fitting that the program developing and sending elite defensive line talent to the NFL would pull in two elite defensive linemen in-state. Pitt now has two of the top three in-state defensive linemen committed to the program. Those two being Imhotep Charter’s Jahsear Whittington Jahsear Whittington 6’1″ | 280 lbs | DL Imhotep Charter | 2024 State PA and Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s Ty Yuhas Ty Yuhas 6’4″ | 250 lbs | DL Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2024 State PA . A lot is said about Pitt’s presence in Pennsylvania, you cannot argue that nabbing these two front-four prospects help Pitt set a standard in Pennsylvania. Pitt also secured verbals from Hollywood’s Zachary Crothers as well as Francis Brewu, a 6’2, 270 interior prospect out of Thomas Worthington HS. Crothers and Yuhas project to develop as EDGE rushers, while Brewu and Whittington should dominate ACC trenches for years to come.
Despite us ranking and labeling Jim Thorpe’s Noah Rosahac Noah Rosahac 6’5″ | 270 lbs | OL Jim Thorpe | 2024 State PA as a defensive lineman, we do expect Syracuse to mold and develop Rosahac towards the offensive side of the football. Whether that be at tackle or IOL, Syracuse has a man on the offensive line unit that is more than capable of matching up against the likes of Yuhas and Whittington mentioned above. If Pitt and other ACC programs continue to bring in front-four talent, Syracuse will have to do what they can to block well, of course. Rosahac is the only IOL prospect to commit to Syracuse thus far, Dino Babers and staff will surely emphasize the position moving forward.
Canon-McMillan’s Kaeden Singelton announced his commitment to Delaware just three days ago. I’m always intrigued with Delware’s movements in PA, intrigued by the way the program handles recruiting in Eastern PA. Yet here are the Blue Hens nabbing a Western PA prospect, a top-70 one at that. 6’2, 225, a moldable and desirable frame, quality reps at LB/DE/TE, Delaware has to be drooling at the young man’s potential. 20+ opportunities under Singleton’s belt, Delware gets him.
