Continue ReadingMelvin shows some glimpses of brute strength over some opponents, he shows the skill to keep his arms locked out and keep the OL away from his body. I really like his patience and awareness off the edge, he can bat down screens and funnels play back toward center field. At 6’4 260lbs size is no issue at all, he still has 2 years to develop and is already the size of majority of the 2023 prospects. He has been making some noise this off season making a name for himself at the Polynesian Bowl, and I Am Athlete showcases, earning invites to both All-American camps.
Brayden made his mark on varsity during his sophomore year recording 4 Ints and a gang of tackles. The stat book can’t measure some of the plays he made on the field, like a stop on the goal line or good zone coverage to cause a sack or incompletion. He reacts to the ball well in the secondary and was just a hair late on some of the hits he put on receivers; some still caused incompletions. Dewaal shows tremendous athleticism outside of football in track and field, competing in the high jump. He won his regional High Jump Championships and compete at the State Championship meet this outdoor season.
Norfleet is a rising playmaker, he returned a kick return for a touchdown, blocked a couple punts, and racked up some interceptions and pass breakups. The future is bright for this versatile defensive weapon. Right now he is under the radar with little recruitment but coming off a solid year in 2022, expect Norfleet to have a bigger impact in 2023, he’s definitely a prospect to keep an eye on.
Booth is listed as an athlete, he plays DB and running back on offense. As you can expect he is very athletic and able to make plays at all levels on the defensive side of the ball. At 6’1 he’s no small body for a DB, able to play at the LOS making plays in the back field, covers receivers out wide on the island, and roams center field at safety.
Marcus showed glimpses of dominance for Brunswick last season, winning in hand-to-hand combat with offensive linemen, setting the edge, and effecting the QB, forcing them outside the pocket. He a has a good frame at 6’3 205lbs, watch for him to develop into one heck of an outside linebacker/defensive end. Ogbogu will be transferring to DC powerhouse St. Johns to continue chasing his athletic and academic goals, watch for his recruiting stock to take a leap with a good showing in the WCAC. So far he has 1 offer from UNC-Charolette.
