This state has produced some of the best talent at the college and professional levels for years. For a majority to the premier athletes who have come out of Texas and into the next level, their journey to the top started at the middle school level. Having said that, here are some of the Lone Star State’s top athletes who are about to become some of the biggest names in high school football at both a state and national level.
If you’re looking for a devastating 2027 edge rusher, then look no further. Brandon Harris Jr. Brandon Harris Jr. 6’2″ | 185 lbs | WR Aubrey | 2027 TX is a big-time defensive lineman with a solid 6’1 and 192-pound frame. Brandon plays with pure explosion and packs a punch off the ball. In the run game, Brandon is a pure edge setter and can shed blocks and get to the ball with a quick snap of the hands. As a pass rusher, Brandon mixes his strength with his speed. Off the ball, Brandon throws hands on this opponent with a variety of different moves, then uses his speed to get to the quarterback. Based on what I have seen from Harris, to say that he is a human wrecking ball on the football field would be an understatement. Quarterbacks around the state better watch out for Brandon at the high school level.
Jeremiah Hambric
Jeremiah Hambric
Jeremiah Hambric is a defensive back that can absolutely lay the wood out on the edge of the football field. Coming out of the Allen Area, which is widely known as the football Mecca of Texas High School Football, Jeremiah is an athlete who is poised to make a big jump at the high school level. Unlike some defensive backs, Hambric has no problem getting involved in the run game. When he reads run, Jeremiah drives downhill and gets physical with whoever is running the ball. He also has verified speed after running an 11.93 100-meter dash and landing a 1st place finish in Celina just a few weeks ago. If Jeremiah continues to play like this at the high school level, he will like where he ends up at the collegiate level.
Brice McCurdy Brice McCurdy 6’0″ | 160 lbs | ATH TX is a dynamic athlete coming out of Texas who can do it all in a variety of different sports. On the football field, Brice splits time between quarterback and defensive back, but you will also find him playing special teams as well. On the offensive side of the ball, Brice is trending toward being a dual-threat quarterback with a fluid throwing motion and the speed to beat anyone on the football field. Brice thrives at placing his throws, whether it is level 1, 2, or 3 passes. Overall on the offensive side of the ball, Brice is a workhorse who can do just about anything to get the ball moving forward. With his pure athleticism, Brice is going to grow into an athlete that is going to be hard to pass up at the collegiate level.
Zykhius Wapskineh Zykhius Wapskineh 5’11” | 160 lbs | WR Dallas First Baptist | 2027 TX is one of the most versatile weapons that I have seen at wideout in this class. Standing at 5’10, Zykhius is growing into the requisite frame for a top-tier wideout. On the offensive side of the ball, Wapskineh has electric top-end speed. Zykhius can turn a two-step slant into a 70-yard touchdown reception in a blink of an eye. Wapskineh also splits time as a linebacker. With the speed and physicality that he plays with, Zykhius can do anything from playing out in coverage to fitting in the run game. Overall, Zykius is a very impressive and explosive ball player. If he keeps playing the way that he is, it won’t be long before he becomes a trending topic in the recruiting world.
Highlights
Leshem “Shem” Nyantee is ANOTHER big-time offensive lineman from Anna, Texas that you need to know about. Standing at 6’2, Shem is growing into the ideal offensive line frame for the collegiate level of football. On the football field, Shem moves well in pass protection as he displays smooth and steady feet. He also has strong hands that allow him to stick to pass rushers. In the run game, Shem shows off a strong get-off, and allows him to dominate the edge as a tackle. Just from what I have seen, Shem has a very high upside as an offensive lineman. Between Shem and Peyton Miller Peyton Miller 6’4″ | 285 lbs | OL Anna | 2027 State TX , Anna is going to have a dominant offensive line for the years to come.
