Continue ReadingMore than two weeks have passed since the exciting festivities of the Prep Redzone Prospect Tour and it is about that time to take an exclusive look at whose standout performances was deserving enough to see their names be among the 2023 PRZ CO All-First team! Let’s get down to business!
Hands down one of the top quarterbacks at the event two Saturdays ago, there is no question that the signal caller in Kurt Rossner Kurt Rossner 6’4″ | 190 lbs | QB Heritage | 2024 CO was the top quarterback at Foothills Arena. When standing next to Rossner, you begin to realize how impressive his height is with his 6’4″ frame. Even more spectacular is his delivery with the football. All day long, Rossner showed off his cannon for an arm while also displaying phenomenal timing with his receivers in the positional drills. Clearly, the Heritage field general could be in store for a stellar fall season!
Nice anticipation on this hitch route between Heritage QB @KurtRossner2 and Summit WR @JacksonArchamb3 in this QB-WR drill🚀🎯@PrepRedzoneCO @Heritagefootbal #PRZProspectTourCO pic.twitter.com/HNw6da3AKh

Highlights
In the three Prep Redzone events that I have covered up to this point, no prospect has been as entertaining than James Basinger James Basinger 5’10” | 195 lbs | RB Columbine | 2025 State CO himself. With tremendous balanced speed and power, Basinger once again showed off his playmaking skills by dominating one-on-one drills while also displaying splendid footwork in the cone exercises. Believe it or not, Basinger was named an MVP for the third consecutive time as a Propsect Tour participant and the sky is truly the limit on the football field for this young man.

Another intriguing prospect who happened to raise some eyebrows, Mr. Archambault put on a show with his strong hands and ability to break in and out of his routes in fluid fashion. Not to mention, but the Summit wideout certainly isn’t a stranger when it comes to sheer speed, as he also partakes in the world of track and field. Whether it is finding the soft spots in opposing coverages or blowing the absolute top off of defenses, Archambault is more than deserving to be on this list.

Highlights
Another fellow MVP of the PRZ Colorado Prospect Tour on April 29th, the swift and nimble Steven Griffin Jr Steven Griffin Jr 5’3″ | ATH Far Northeast | 2025 CO . is someone to keep an eye on as the fall approaches. Although Griffin Jr is rather smaller in stature, don’t let that you underestimate this young man’s high-flying game. The biggest thing that stood out at Saturday’s event was his humongous heart for the game. Not only did Griffin Jr. showcase his impressive skillset, but his extra effort in finishing drills and fighting hard until the final whistle will serve him well for many seasons to come.

A true football player through and through, Jayce Prante Jayce Prante 6’0″ | 230 lbs | DL Englewood | 2024 CO out of Englewood High School was named as a PRZ Colorado Prospect Tour MVP after his stellar performance in front of coaches and scouts galore. While his outing on Saturday was well deserved, Prante is a do-it-all playmaker that can line up on both sides of the line of scrimmage and also play the tight end position. However, Prante does most of his damage on the defensive line with his ferocious style of play. Paired with his lofty upside as a pass rusher to go along with his ability to blow up plays in the backfield, this Englewood standout has lots going for him.

Turning heads left and right with his eye brow raising play, the Cherry Creek junior officially put the Prospect Tour on notice with his dynamic athleticism. In fact, Shepardson recorded a 4.72 second 40-yard-dash, 4.45 second shuttle drill, and a 9’8″ inch broad jump. Clearly, Shepardson has the type of skill-set that cannot be taught, and some refinement with his talent should only make the Class of 2024 graduate that much more dangerous later this season. Don’t be surprised if Shepardson pops off in his more expanded role with the Bruins in 2023.

Last and certainly not least, one prospect that jumped out to me in a big way was running back Luciano Tafayoa. Right off of the bat, it became eveident that Tafoya had been putting work in during the offseason with his swift footwork and impressive ball-carrier vision during drills. A season ago, it was Tafoya that averaged 9.4 yards per carry on 14 total attempts for 132 yards including a season-long 85-yard run. Without a doubt, Tafoya’s senior season this fall could hands down be a special one as he is in line for more opportunities in the backfield.
Apologies for the late film but just the beginning on the last chapter coming 🔜
