Team FSP players dominated several events, beginning on the track. Sehome’s Jacob Andrews challenged for the state record in the 100m, running a 10.56 to win the 2A title handily before winning gold in the 400m and 200m as well. Archbishop Murphy’s Diontaye Moorman Diontaye Moorman 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Archbishop Murphy | 2024 State WA finished 10th in 2A with a time of 11.12.
In the 3A 100m, Lynnwood’s Zaire Griffin Zaire Griffin 5'7" | 145 lbs | RB Roosevelt | 2025 State WA and Lincoln (Seattle)’s Akeem Murph Akeem Murph 5'8" | 170 lbs | RB Rainier Beach | 2025 State WA Jr. took 3rd and 4th with respective times of 10.98 and 11.06.
The team then completed a clean sweep of the the 4A 100m podium, with Richland’s Keenan Kuntz Keenan Kuntz 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH Mead | 2023 State WA winning gold with a 10.80, Kamiak’s T’Andre Waverly T’Andre Waverly 6'4" | 225 lbs | TE Kamiak | 2025 State WA taking silver with an 11.03, and Federal Way’s Andre Jordan Andre Jordan 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Federal Way | 2023 State WA taking bronze with an 11.05. Other FSP 4A finalists included Colorado State Commit Trey Crandall and sophomore Cam Weir, both representing Skyline. The 5 speedsters were all finalists in the 400m as well. Each of them also competed in the 200m, with Kuntz, Crandall, Waverly and Weir finishing in the 2-5 spots. Jordan finished 7th, and Eastern Washington WR commit Jani Weir Jani Weir 5'9" | 155 lbs | WR Skyline | 2023 State WA came in 9th as FSP grabbed 6 of the top 9 finishes.
However, some of the 100m’s most exciting moments also came in Friday’s prelims, as Kuntz, Waverly and 7 other FSP Football players ran under 11 seconds, and many of them set PRs with some especially eye-opening times.
Jordan also took Bronze in the 4A Long Jump with a 23-02.00 performance.
FSP’s big boys delivered more hardware on the Field side, as front seven players and members of their Trench Squad took home wins in the throwing events. Emerald Ridge’s Jacob Lane Jacob Lane 6'5" | 230 lbs | DL Emerald Ridge | 2023 State WA and Prep Redzone’s 2022 Washington Player Of The Year in Yelm LB Brayden Platt Brayden Platt 6'1" | 240 lbs | LB Yelm | 2024 State WA won the gold medals for both 4A and 3A in shot put. Lane edged out all comers with his 56-11.00 PR for the 4A State Title. Platt took aim at the 64-07.00 3A State Record which Mike Shill has held for 43 years, as his 63-11.75 PR was less than a foot off. Although he came up short of his goal, his 61-10.00 handily earned him the 3A State Championship. Newport OL Luke Slater Luke Slater 6'2" | 265 lbs | OL Newport | 2024 State WA followed up his slew of impressive Spring Tackle performances in Team FSP’s games with a shot put PR of 51-11.00, placing 6th in 4A as well.
Platt placed 2nd in the Javelin Throw to the new State Record holder with a 216-00 PR that was just inches short of the previous record himself. Bellevue senior All-State LB and FSP alum George Kruger George Kruger 6'0" | 180 lbs | LB Bellevue | 2023 State WA finished 3rd with a 174-01 PR as well.
Finally, Yelm LB Isaiah Patterson Isaiah Patterson 6'2" | 235 lbs | LB Yelm | 2024 State WA celebrated his UCLA commitment last week by winning the 3A Discus State Title in commanding fashion. His PR of 177-04 was a whopping 22 feet further than the silver medalist. Platt finished 21st, right ahead of fellow FSP standout and Wisconsin TE commit from O’Dea, senior Tucker Ashcraft Tucker Ashcraft 6'5" | 235 lbs | TE O'Dea | 2023 State WA . Clarkston and FSP defensive standout Sage Lone Bear Sage Lone Bear 6'4" | 290 lbs | DL Clarkston | 2024 State WA finished 5th in 2A with a 146-04 throw.
While Track & Field can’t prove someone to be a good football player, the FSP boys are always hungry to compete and hone their athletic gifts. All of these seniors are heading off to play D1 football in the next few weeks, while the underclassmen will continue their grind toward that same goal.
