Now with a bit of hindsight, we'll go back and do a re-draft featuring the top players of the 2024 class. Some picks will be similar to the actual pick, while others will see the team going in a different direction in terms of position. I used roster needs as the main driver with my picks on most selections.

Check out where some of the top '24 stars will call "home" in our All-2024 First Round Re-Draft.

Pick 1: Carolina Panthers

[player_tooltip player_id='169899' first='Daniel' last='Kaelin'] | QB | Bellevue West | Mizzou Commit

Hudl | Twitter

The Panthers made an early trade up to the 1st overall pick, and it should be a no-brainer that they moved up to get their franchise QB. Carolina makes the easy pick to add Bellevue West/Mizzou QB [player_tooltip player_id='169899' first='Daniel' last='Kaelin'] here. Daniel went off in his first season as QB1 for the Thunderbirds, setting several records and leading one of the most explosive offenses in the state. He finished the year with 3,186 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, 64% completion, and a QBR of 115. Exceptional arm talent with a high football IQ that can step in and be a leader immediately.

Pick 2: Houston Texans

[player_tooltip player_id='250051' first='Anthony' last='Rezac'] | QB | Omaha Westside | 6'3" 195 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

The Texans also get their franchise QB in Westside's [player_tooltip player_id='250051' first='Anthony' last='Rezac']. Anthony gives Houston not just their future QB but a tough runner that can complement breakout RB Dameon Pierce. Rezac was one of two players in the state that threw for 2,000 yards and ran for 1,000. He makes quick, smart decisions with his passes/option reads and can diagnose a defense effectively. An aspect people overlook about Anthony's game is how accurate he is and how well he takes care of the ball - 38 touchdowns to only five interceptions in his 22 games as a starter. The Texans need to establish a winning culture, and who better to have to lead that than a state championship QB.

Pick 3: Houston Texans

[player_tooltip player_id='416970' first='Ashton' last='Murphy'] | DL | Elkhorn South | Nebraska Commit

Hudl | Twitter

The Texans need help on defense, namely the defensive line, where they were one of the worst teams against the run. [player_tooltip player_id='416970' first='Ashton' last='Murphy'] is a defender with plug-and-play ability anywhere on the defensive line. Murphy played a rotational role on the defensive line but still managed to rack up 37 tackles, five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Ashton has the toughness and power to play defensive tackle and disrupt the opposing run game from the inside. He can also play DE and use his length and explosiveness off the ball to create pressure off the edge. Murphy also possesses a powerful leg drive and violent hands/hips that help him win his 1v1 matchups with ease. Major upgrade here!

Pick 4: Indianapolis Colts

[player_tooltip player_id='340487' first='Carson' last='Rauner'] | QB | Elkhorn South | 6'3" 200 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

With the 4th pick, the Colts race to the podium to select their new franchise QB, [player_tooltip player_id='340487' first='Carson' last='Rauner']. Carson is a player that rode a strong summer into a huge breakout junior year. Rauner finished the 2022 season with 1,602 passing yards (60% comp.), 13 passing touchdowns, and a QBR of 105.3. Carson's arm talent was on ful display, showing his ability to make throws to all levels of the field and deliver them with excellent ball placement. He's a smart QB that can read and dissect defenses with efficiency. Carson had several plays on his tape where he delivered the ball into very tight windows. Very underrated mobility and ability to make plays with his legs. He added 468 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground. With one of the best QB developing coaches on board, the sky is the limit with Carson!

Pick 5: Seattle Seahawks

Dae' Vonn Hall | WR | Bellevue West | 6'2" 175 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

The Seahawks went defense first, then receiver in the real draft, but we'll do the opposite in this go-around. Hall's talent, production, and upside are too much to pass up at the #5 pick. Hall is coming off a monster season in which he hauled in 62 receptions for 974 yards and 11 touchdowns. Dae'Vonn is as complete of a receiver as they come, with great hands, route-running, and just being a flat-out playmaker. He is a player that can work all levels of the field. He's a technician with his footwork and can win with his release, create separation at the breakoff point, and can get behind defenders with his speed. Dae'Vonn is very savvy when it comes to coverages and being able to create separation and find open zones. The trio of DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and now [player_tooltip player_id='169896' first='Dae'Vonn' last='Hall'] makes this one of the most explosive receiver groups in the league.

Pick 6: Arizona Cardinals

[player_tooltip player_id='250675' first='Caleb' last='Pyfrom'] | OT | Omaha Central | 6'5" 300 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Easy pick here for the Cardinals, picking up the top offensive lineman in the draft and a bookend tackle for years to come. Pyfrom was one of the biggest risers in the 2022 season, as he has now reached double-digit offers. When you watch Caleb's tape, you see a well-rounded OL prospect that can move very well laterally while also flashing a mean streak. His athleticism for his size is astounding to watch on film as he can cover a lot of ground on pulls, move quickly into the second level, and is smooth in pass protection. He has great length and power in his upper body to take on any kind of rusher off the edge. I'm hyped if I'm a Cardinal fan, knowing we got a massive insurance policy for QB Kyler Murray when he returns.

Pick 7: Las Vegas Raiders

[player_tooltip player_id='250053' first='Caleb' last='Benning'] | S | Omaha Westside | 5'11" 185 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

The Raiders need help. Period. Enter Westside's [player_tooltip player_id='250053' first='Caleb' last='Benning'], who gives the silver and black a versatile chess piece in their secondary. Caleb is a cerebral, instinctive safety that can cover sideline-to-sideline and is just as effective against the pass as he is against the run. He reads defenses at a high level and can break on the ball quickly with good closing speed to get to the ball. This has helped him become one of the top ball-hawing safeties in the state. Benning brings a different level of toughness and physicality as he's a very willing tackler... and a secure tackler at that. He is a great overall athlete that can also contribute to special teams.

Pick 8: Atlanta Falcons

[player_tooltip player_id='250255' first='Teddy' last='Rezac'] | LB | Omaha Westside | 6'3" 195 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Similar to the Benning selection, the Falcons pick up a player that fits the new type of defender in [player_tooltip player_id='250255' first='Teddy' last='Rezac']. Teddy is a very fluid, versatile defender who can play outside linebacker and can float around the safety and corner positions. Teddy is a do-it-all defender that can defend the run, play the pass, and rush the QB.He ended his junior season with 62 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, a forced fumble, and a sack. He's very rangy with solid length and always seems to be in the right spot to make a play. Great addition to a defense needing smart, physical defenders with a nose for the big play.

Pick 9: Philadelphia Eagles

[player_tooltip player_id='245869' first='Caden' last='Cetak'] | EDGE/DE | Lincoln East | 6'4" 220 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Coming off the greatest "sack" season in NFL history, the Eagles decide to continue reloading on players that can get to the QB. Lincoln East DE/EDGE rusher [player_tooltip player_id='245869' first='Caden' last='Cetak'] gives the Birds a menacing presence coming off the edge. Cetak is a lengthy, bendy player who can fit anything from a defensive end to an outside linebacker role. Caden has a very quick first step that helps him blow past slow tackles, and he has long arms to maintain separation when engaged. In his first season as a full-timer, he posted 43 tackles, 6.5 sacks, six passes defended, and a forced fumble. I've seen him at recent camps, and he looks even quicker than he did on tape.

Pick 10: Chicago Bears

[player_tooltip player_id='250290' first='Cooper' last='Johnson'] | OT | Lincoln Southeast | 6'6" 300 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

The Bears get a franchise tackle to protect rising QB Justin Fields. [player_tooltip player_id='250290' first='Cooper' last='Johnson'] played right tackle for the Knights last season but could see a move to the left, giving him the nice boost of LT-RT versatility. Johnson has great size at 6'6" and 300 pounds but moves very well on his feet. He has great footwork on his pass sets and has the athleticism to take on speed rushers. As a run blocker, Johnson loves to get after it and take the fight to the defense. He can move to the second level very well and can swallow up LBs. Very physical, violent hand use! McMorris gives the Titans a weapon that can be a threat at all levels. He has elite speed that can stretch the defense vertically, and he has the twitch to take quick passes in space for huge chunk gains. Nelson ended his junior season with 663 passing yards, 15 passing TDs, 761 rushing yards, 14 touchdowns, 525 receiving yards, 11 receiving TDs, 41 tackles, and six interceptions... did it ALL! He projects best as a tight end where he can use his size and massive catch radius to provide a safety blanket in the Lion's passing game. Boyle gives the Bills offense a ground-and-pound back with home run ability on any given touch.

Pick 26: Dallas Cowboys

[player_tooltip player_id='340479' first='Joseph' last='Stein'] | TE | Grand Island Northwest | 6'6" 225 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Several mocks have the Cowboys taking a tight end here, and with a talent like [player_tooltip player_id='340479' first='Joseph' last='Stein'] available, I agree. Joseph is a quickly rising prospect, one of the state's more well-rounded tight ends. He hauled in 21 receptions for 227 yards and three receiving touchdowns during his junior year. Stein's presence gives QB Prescott a big, tough target over the middle of the field with an enormous catch radius. Stein is solid at the catch point and has the strength to hold on through contact. He's also great after the catch, with a strong lower body that keeps him running through tackle attempts and a nice burst when he turns upfield. He's also effective as an in-line tight end, with his physical blocking style and ability to seal up LBs. The addition of Stein rounds out a very good pass-catching group and adds a fantastic blocker up front.

Pick 27: Jacksonville Jaguars

[player_tooltip player_id='245889' first='Donovan' last='Jones'] | S | Omaha North | 6'0" 180 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

The Jags are a team only a few players away from being a true force in the NFL. Adding a safety like [player_tooltip player_id='245889' first='Donovan' last='Jones'] who can do everything from playing in coverage to stepping into the box would be a huge gain. Jones is physical safety that loves putting his nose to the ball and making tough tackles when he gets to man. Donovan has a great football IQ with the ability to read, diagnose, and break on the ball within moments. He finished his junior season with 42 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 7 pass breakups, and two interceptions. Gritty player that would thrive in any environment.

Pick 28: Cincinnati Bengals

[player_tooltip player_id='245883' first='Gunnar' last='Lym'] | S | Bennington | 6'0" 175 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Safety is a massive need for the Bengals, who saw both Jessie Bates III and Vonn Bell leave in free agency. Bennington's ball-hawking safety [player_tooltip player_id='245883' first='Gunnar' last='Lym'] is a smart, instinctive player that can step right up and perform at a high level, just as he's done since his sophomore year. Lym racked up 92 tackles, a tackle for loss, 4 interceptions, a pick-six, and a kick and punt return for a touchdown. He is fluid in coverage with the range to go sideline-to-sideline, quick change of direction, and closing space. Lym is one of the top ball-hawking players in the state with the ball skills to end up with a takeaway or pass breakup. He tracks the ball very well. Great tackler with sound technique! Underrated game speed.

Pick 29: New Orleans Saints

[player_tooltip player_id='250054' first='Jonquel' last='Osler'] | DE | Omaha Westside | 6'0" 225 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Several options for the Saints here, but picking up an explosive defensive playmaker like Jonquel seems like the best move. Jonquel gives the Saints a player that can wreak havoc on the DL with his ability to play the run and terrorize quarterbacks. He capped off a championship season with 72 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, and three sacks. One thing that pops out to me about Jonquel is his get-off. He is super quick off the ball and is very good at threading his way between linemen to get into the backfield. He knows how to use his hands very well and has shown the ability to convert speed to power. He had a few plays lined up as a stand-up edge rusher, which is really intriguing to me.

Pick 30: Philadelphia Eagles

[player_tooltip player_id='516764' first='Kevon' last='Newsome'] | LB | Omaha Benson | 6'1" 215 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Great depth addition for the Eagles here as they get one of the top linebacker prospects in the class. [player_tooltip player_id='516764' first='Kevon' last='Newsome'] is a production machine that led Class A in tackles with 130 tackles, also adding 10 TFLs, three sacks, and three interceptions to the stat sheet. Newsome finds ways to make plays on the field, whether it be in coverage or as a run defender. He plays physical, hard-hitting football when going downhill against the run and can leave a mark when he gets to the ball. He has long arms for a linebacker and uses that length very well to shed blocks and when making a play on the ball in coverage. The rich get richer with this pick!

Pick 31: Kansas City Chiefs

[player_tooltip player_id='250273' first='Jayden' last='Potter'] | OT | Lincoln North Star | 6'6" 290 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

All may seem well and good coming off of a Super Bowl victory for the Chiefs, but key losses to free agency opened up some big needs. Jayden has been a steady riser this offseason in both recruitment and in his development. Potter is a strong, sturdy left tackle that excels as a pass protector.
