2022 Recap:

Head Coach: Russell Stoner

York High went 6-4 last year, but their season could be explained as a series of close games that could have greatly improved their record. York High lost to Woodland Hills 28-24 in a dramatic defeat where York High had the ball inside the ball 5 and couldn't score to end the game in week one. The next week they lost to Hempfield 35-32 in a game where they lost the lead late. They then went on a 6 game winning streak where they mostly took care of business but had a close call to Carlisle (54-47 win) and Spring Grove (40-37 win). Finally, they lost to Central York 41-36 to close out the regular season and then the following week to Central York again 51-44 in the 1st round of the District 3 Playoffs. So York High lost 4 games by a total of 17 points. Finishing 6-4 is not a bad record, but if York High even wins 2 of those close games they go 8-2 on the year.

Coaching Update:

Russell Stoner is entering his 8th season as Head Coach at York High. He replaced Shawn Heinold who had gone 17-44 in six seasons as Head Coach. Stoner has done a nice job turning around the program and making them competitive year in and year out. He has also done a nice job sending players to play College Football. Including dynamic running back [player_tooltip player_id='87079' first='Jahiem' last='White'] to West Virginia after last season. Stoner has the Bearcats playing well and he deserves credit for that.

Season Outlook 2023:

Losing a Division 1 running back In [player_tooltip player_id='87079' first='Jahiem' last='White'] and a 3-year starting quarterback In [player_tooltip player_id='87840' first='Sam' last='Stoner'] is tough to replace, but Coach Stoner has done job developing players in his program. [player_tooltip player_id='386322' first='David' last='Warde'] at wide receiver, and Mike McMonigle at offensive line is a good place to start for York High. I expect York High to be competitive and be in the mix again for a Section Title this upcoming year.
