We are going to look at the recruiting news making headlines across the state of Texas. Start your week off with all the recruiting headlines as we enter the last few weeks of school.
Caleb Smith Caleb Smith 5'10" | 155 lbs | ATH Allen | 2026 State TX -Athlete-Allen-5’10” 155-Pounds-2026
Caleb Smith Caleb Smith 5'10" | 155 lbs | ATH Allen | 2026 State TX is a prospect that works extremely well on both sides of the ball. On the offensive side of the ball, Smith is a wide receiver that can break the game wide open. He has the speed to stretch the field and keep the defensive secondary honest. Earlier in the week, Grambling State University extended a scholarship offer to Smith. Smith is a prospect to watch out for over the next couple of seasons.
Kiandrea Barker-Running Back-The Woodlands-5’11” 183-Pounds-2025
The Woodlands running back is one of the most explosive running backs in the state of Texas. Barker does a great job of identifying the rushing lane and exploding through hole. Last week, Barker placed a verbal commitment with Penn State. However, Barker is a high-profile recruit that plenty of teams are battling for over the next few years. Barker earned a scholarship offer from TCU last Friday. His recruitment is going to be a fun one to watch over the next two seasons.

Carter Jones Carter Jones 6'4" | 180 lbs | QB Lancaster | 2025 State TX is a quarterback that makes great decisions with the football. The Lancaster signal caller is not afraid to test opposing secondaries with the deep ball. Jones can make all the throws needed to run an efficient offense. He is a quarterback that can escape the pocket; however, he does a great job of keeping his eyes down the field. The Lancaster quarterback earned a scholarship offer from the Arizona Wildcats last Friday. He is going to be a quarterback to watch over the next two seasons.
Dontae Carter-Athlete-Steele-6’3” 172-Pounds-2024
Dontae Carter is one of the most versatile prospects in the class of 2024. He works effectively on both sides of the ball for Steele. Looking primarily at the defensive side of the ball. Carter can play the safety or cornerback positions and do so extremely effectively. He has had a busy week on the recruiting trail recently. Carter has earned scholarship offers from Kansas, Washington, and Nebraska. He is a prospect in the secondary to watch out for this season.
Devin Sanchez Devin Sanchez 6'2" | 170 lbs | DB North Shore | 2025 State TX -North Shore-Defensive Back-6’3” 185-Pounds-2025
The North Shore product had a tremendous 2022 football season. Sanchez earned all-district as well as all-American honors from Maxpreps and Adidas last season. He does a great job of causing plenty of problems in the secondary for opposing wide receivers. Last week, Sanchez earned a scholarship offer from Maryland. I expect another strong season from Sanchez in 2023. He has to potential to light up Friday nights this fall.
Malik Esquerra-Shoemaker-Defensive Back-6’3” 186-Pounds-2024
Esquerra is an extremely productive player on the defensive side of the ball. Esquerra racked up 68 tackles, four interceptions, one pass break up, one forced fumble, and two tackles for loss. The Shoemaker defensive back earned a scholarship from Oklahoma State last week. The young man has the potential to see plenty of action on Saturdays in the future. He is a prospect to keep an eye on this season.
