Cardinal Gibbons Spring Practice

I was at the practice on Friday to observe the team getting ready to compete for upcoming season. The team lost several key players to graduation and are looking for players to step up and fill key positions. There were a large number of players participating in drills to improve their skillsets in preparation to compete during the upcoming season. Two 2024 prospects have seen a spike in their recruitment during the offseason. [player_tooltip player_id='308730' first='Ryan' last='Ziegler'] and [player_tooltip player_id='469428' first='Whitt' last='Newbauer'] who are amongst the top prospects in their class are receiving a lot of recruiting interest from schools.   [player_tooltip player_id='308730' first='Ryan' last='Ziegler'] - LB, 6'0" 215 (No. 5 LB, No. 71 Overall), Cardinal Gibbons HS. Ryan is the dominant player and leader of the defensive unit. He will make an impact on opposing offensive units during the upcoming season. He displayed patience to let plays develop before reacting quickly to make stops during the practice session. Ryan displayed good lateral movement and speed to cover a lot of ground quickly as he closed in on the ball carrier for stops. He has put in a lot of work during the offseason and is now being rewarded with recruiting interest. Ryan has received D1 offers, more are coming for him.   [player_tooltip player_id='469428' first='Whitt' last='Newbauer'] - QB, 6'5" 200 (No. 5 QB, No. 42 Overall), Cardinal Gibbons HS. Whitt is the dominant player and leader of the offensive unit. He will make an impact on opposing defensive units with his passing skills and the ability to tuck it and run during the upcoming season. He has a fluid arm with complete follow through on his throws. Whitt displayed good arm strength and good ball velocity on short and medium range throws on target. He displayed quick movements in the pocket during Friday's practice. Whitt has received D1 offers, more are coming for him.
