However, before we completely move on to the Class of 2024 and beyond I want to highlight who is still available in the Class of 2023 according to the Prep Redzone Wisconsin Rankings, and each player’s personal Twitter accounts. There is talent for the FCS level to the D3 level. So any teams looking to add the cherry on top of their 2023 recruiting classes need to check out these athletes.
The #1 uncommitted player in WI is the Top 10 OL out of Mayville HS. Mayville had one of the most productive rushing attacks the past two seasons, and Hewston was a major key to the success. The 6’6″ 285 lbs LT has elite size, good strength, and is a dominant run blocker. He would be an elite add to a high level recruiting class at this point in the process.
The top uncommitted defensive player in WI is Hudson LB Reese Thompson Reese Thompson 6’0″ | 225 lbs | LB Hudson | 2023 State WI . Reese is a hard hitting, 6′ 225 lbs LB. The senior is still only 17, so he has a lot of growing and developing ahead of him. He already looks like a next level LB. Teams looking for a tone setter at the second level of the defense need to check him out.
Highlights
Another massive steal is Arrowhead WR Andrew Weske Andrew Weske 5’11” | 170 lbs | WR Arrowhead | 2023 State WI . Andrew is arguably the best route runner in the state going back to the 2022 season. He has the speed to play at the next level, and he tracks the ball and easily adjusts when he needs to. He would be a great add to a WR room.
The 6′ 225 lbs LB out of Verona would be a steal for a FCS or D2 level program. He was the QB of the defense in 2022. He is a high IQ player who puts himself in position to make plays. A team that adds Mason to the middle of their defense will be getting a difference maker.
Highlights
The top DB still available is the Arrowhead cornerback. Brady is an aggressive corner that can be counted on in coverage and attacking downhill to stop the run game. He has the speed and quick reactive athleticism to turn and run with receivers one on one. I believe he is a D2 talent minimum.
Highlights
The top uncommitted QB is the Milwaukee Marquette lefty. Luke is a 6’4″ 195 lbs dual threat passer. He can break a defenses back when he keeps it himself. Through the air he has the arm to be able to attack the second and third levels of the defense. He also has the accuracy to be able to hit small windows downfield.
Highlights
Another top LB still available is the Appleton North product. Ben is a rangy, hard hitting prospect. He is a stout run defender between the tackles and has the strength to be able to play on the edge as well. He has been one of the top hidden gems in WI. He would be a steal for a program.
Highlights
The top uncommitted RB is the Wilmot Union back. Anthony is a big back at 6’1″ 220 lbs. He has a solid blend of power and agility. Anthony runs behind his pads well, has good contact balance, and the speed to break loose in the open field. He can also shake defenders in tight spaces between the tackles.
Kaeden is a massive prospect from the middle of the Bay Port defense. He has the size for the next level, and proved to be a stout run defender in the trenches. He ate up blocks and controlled the line of scrimmage. Teams looking to control the line of scrimmage, give him a glimpse.
DaJohn played both ways for Nathan Hale. The 6’3″ 215 lbs athlete projects best as an edge defender. That is where he can let his athletic traits shine. He has a solid first step, and good length to be able to engage OTs first. He will need to continue to fill out, but could be a pass rusher early.
Highlights
August is a multi-sport standout with a 6’3″ frame. On the football field, August is a DE/OLB. He plays with a quick first step, uses his hands effectively, and has a high motor and range to make plays all over the backfield. We could potentially see the 1,000 point scorer on the hardwood play hoops at the next level too.
Highlights
Anthony is undersized for the edge/DE position that he played in 2022. However, Mack used his traits to produce at the position and earned DL of the Year for his conference. Mack has had to rely on his quickness off the line, around the corner, and closing on the ball. He is hard to land a square block on, and could find a home at off the ball LB at the next level.
Charlie has a great frame at 6’5″ 225 lbs. He also has a ton of experience at a blocker in the run game. He was used as an extra OL at the TE position. Charlie has the strength to move level one off the line of scrimmage. He also has the hands to be an option for his QB in the short passing game.
Cannon is a 6’2″ 265 lbs interior DL with next level strength. Cannon is a talented power lifter and it carried over the the field. Cannon has shown he can take on double teams and hold his ground. He could also be looked at on the offensive side of the ball. Teams wanting to control the trenches on either side should give the strong interior lineman a look.
Jayden is a gifted athlete. He played RB and LB for Platteville, and could do either at the next level. Jayden is 6’1″ 215 lbs with 4.68 speed, a 39.4″ vertical, and a 4.32 5-10-5. He is a raw, athletic prospect that a team can choose how they want to use and develop him.

Blake was one of the top late season breakout players. He took over in the WIAA playoffs, and capped it off with an MVP performance in the D1 State Championship. He is a workhorse back that relies on his power and contact balance to pick up yards. He is a physical runner that could pair well with a quick back. Blake earned multiple D2 offers in November/December.
