Tyrese Woodgett – Coffee
One of the fastest young backs in South Georgia, the Coffee County back is coming off a big freshman season thanks to his ability to fly down the field with his breakaway speed. The 5-foot-10 175-pounder claims a 4.52 time in the 40-yard dash, an incredibly impressive time for a freshman back. Whether he’s playing plays at running back or returning kicks and punts, when he has the ball. Woodgett is a guy who can make a big play. He’s quick, shifty, and has the potential to have a breakout junior season next fall. He played behind a senior and a junior last year, but should see plenty of carries come his way in 2023 in a backup or possible starting role. As a sophomore last year, Woodgett rushed 83 times for 758 yards and 9 touchdowns. He rushed for over 100 yards three times last year, so expect those numbers increase as a junior.

A shifty back that’s hard to contain, Parker is one of the more underrated backs west of Atlanta who is bound for a big junior season next fall. Thee talented sophomore showed good burst, wiggle, and the ability to stay on his feet last season as a sophomore. He might be on the shorter side, but Parker has a natural feel for the position. He reads the field well and knows how to burst through the line of scrimmage when given some space to run. He can bounce off tackles but knows how to make defenders miss as well. In 2022, Parker rushed 188 times for 1,048 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 105 yards per game. He’s still flying under the radar for now, but he may not this time next year. He has the chance to be one of the more productive backs in the area and hopes to leave East Paulding to an improved season next fall.

A productive back to know about in Northeast Georgia is Stephens County’s Javin Gordon Javin Gordon 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Stephens County | 2025 State GA . The 5-foot-10 190-pounder is coming off an excellent sophomore season where he showed game-changing ability with the ball in his hands. The 5-foot-9 190-pounder runs bigger than his size, does a great job of staying on his feet after initial contact, and can run through improper tackles with ease. He runs hard between the tackles and can be tough to knock to the ground if not wrapped up properly. He showed the ability to take over games, rushing for 251 yards, 156 yards, 138 yards and 138 yards again. He’s a natural runner and will only get better this off-season as he prepares for a giant junior season next fall. In total, Gordon had one of the more productive seasons of any back in the area, rushing 197 times for 1,017 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Am explosive back with great vision, Cooper is an under the radar sophomore who still has his best football ahead of him. Slightly on the smaller side compared to other running backs who go on to play at the D1 level, Cooper is quick, elusive, and shows great burst down the field. He hits the hole hard and gets to his top speed in a hurry. He’s one of the top young backs in West Georgia and has the sophomore film to back it up. He’s dangerous in the open field, can juke out defenders, and knows how to consistently take off for a big gain. He came to play each week, rushing for at least 58 yards in every game last season. He also rushed for at least 100 yards in six games and eclipsed the 200-yard mark twice. His biggest game came against Columbus where he rushed for just eight times for 253 yards and four touchdowns. Look for him to have a gigantic junior season for the Blue Devils next fall.
