PRZPA 2024 Prospect Tour Preview: Offensive Lineman

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On May 6, the Prep Redzone Prospect Tour will happen at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, Pennsylvania. I have never participated in a Prospect Tour, so I am excited to be part of this event. For this article, I am previewing the offensive lineman who will be at the Prospect Tour. This is a good group of offensive linemen. Mullery is a young prospect who doesn't have any film yet at this point, but the talk is that he is a legit prospect at the offensive line. I am excited to see him in person and to see how impressive he is. For a young lineman like Mullery, I want to see how he moves and competes at the camp. Paredes played right guard and defensive tackle for North Catholic last year. The biggest takeaway is the raw strength Paredes has as a player. Both at offensive guard and defensive tackle he shows an ability to use his strength and dominate his opponent. At guard, he shows the ability to double-team defensive tackles and gets to the next level very well. Paredes also moves his feet well, particularly when he is in pass protection you see this. At defensive tackle, he is a bully who controls his gap well. He also has a motor that never stops. Popeck is another veteran player who will be attending the prospect tour. Popeck played right guard and defensive tackle for Chartiers Houston. At right guard, he is a mauler that excels in the run game. His pad level is good and when he gets engaged with the defensive lineman he drives them off the ball. He is a good athlete that has good feet and can move well. At defensive tackle, he is good at creating a pile and pushing offensive linemen back into the backfield. Smith played guard and defensive tackle for Pine-Richland last year. Looking at his film you see Smith has great strength to play offensive and defensive line. At offensive line he has a good stance and fires off the ball very well. He also does a nice job pulling and kicking out defensive players. At defensive line he really flashes his strength as he bullies offensive linemen at times. He also has a quick get-off and has a good motor he uses to chase plays down. He played defensive tackle for Greensburg Salem last year. He is a disruptive defensive player who penetrates into the offense to create havoc. He has a quick 1st step and burst off the ball. Many times on film he is using that burst to push back the offensive lineman back to the backfield. Thompson also has a motor that never stops and several times he got sacks by chasing down quarterbacks and making the play. He played right guard for St. Joseph's Prep last year. The first part of his game that stands out is his athleticism. He is really athletic and does a nice job pulling and getting downfield to block. He also is strong and does a nice job controlling other defensive linemen. He has good feet and this is especially helpful in pass blocking. His stance and technique are sound which allows him to excel at playing offensive line. Steele is a talented player, and I am excited to see him perform at the prospect camp. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
