Several players performed very well, but a few had standout performances which earned them MVP honors.
Here are the players who were named the MVPs of their position group by the camp’s coaches and media members.
QUARTERBACK
A handful of quarterbacks were excellent in moments on Sunday but Ruff was consistently making quality throws and reads.
He had the most velocity on the short throws and was hitting receivers in stride on the deep throws. His release is quick and I didn’t see him throw a bad ball all day.
RUNNING BACK
Sunday was my first time seeing Brown in person and it’s easy to see why he ran for nearly 1300 yards with 18 touchdowns last season.
He is simply too fast for linebackers to cover in man pass coverage and he adjusts to the ball well in the middle of the route. He has good straightaway speed and can change direction on a dime.
Brown was a top performer at the US Army Bowl combine a few weeks ago and he has offers from Arizona and Boise State.

WIDE RECEIVERS
Kotiranta was winning a lot of his reps in the one-on-one period and drew strong reactions from the crowd by making a defender lose his footing trying to defend him.
His speed is solid but he creates separation with his route running and twitchy movements. His hands are very good and he can be dangerous from the slot or split out wide.
Drew Shanley Drew Shanley 5’10” | 180 lbs | WR San Clemente | 2024 State CA took home receiver MVP honors at the January Stock Up Showcase so San Clemente receivers have dominated Prep Redzone events this year.

OFFENSIVE LINE
Wonderlick has improved at every event I’ve seen him compete in since the January Stock Up Showcase.
He has a great initial punch and replaces his hands well when deflected by the defender. His feet are fast enough to keep up with edge rushers and he knows how to use his inside leg to cut off defenders when they try to rush inside.
Wonerlick recently got his first Division 1 offer from Hawaii.

DEFENSIVE LINE
Blake Fiacco
Blake Fiacco
Fiacco was consistently winning reps in the one-on-one period against older offensive linemen.
His ability to hand fight and parry the offensive lineman’s arms away is advanced for his age and he has a solid club move. He wasn’t afraid of facing the biggest and oldest guys at the event.
Fiacco told me he plans on attending Santa Margarita for high school.
LINEBACKER
Josiah Payne
Josiah Payne
Payne stood out because he has really good speed for a linebacker, which makes sense because he runs the 100 and 200 meters for Beaumont’s track team.
Most running backs at the event couldn’t get separation from Payne in the one-on-one portion of the camp and he has the size to overpower guys on 50/50 balls.
DEFENSIVE BACK
Censere Gaylord
Censere Gaylord
Gaylord won MVP honors in an impressive defensive backs group despite being an eighth grader.
He gets out of his backpedal smoothly and was in the hip pocket of receivers frequently.
Gaylord is a long strider who has impressive speed for his age. He will only improve as he matures and spends more time in the weight room.
