We had over 50 players attend the camp and there was an abundance of talent on display. Over the next few days , we will be focusing on the top performers from the camp at each position. With that being said, here are the offensive and defensive linemen that stood out to me on Sunday.
Steven Thomas Steven Thomas 6’3″ | 330 lbs | OL Louisville Male | 2024 State KY from Male introduced himself in a big way on Sunday, earning the offensive line MVP award. He stood out early in position drills, showing good footwork and the ability to flip his hips to change direction smoothly. Thomas used this to his advantage in 1v1 drills, showing the ability to drop back quickly to mirror opposing defensive linemen. He also played with a ton of physicality, showing the ability to drive his man out of the picture and finish his blocks. Steven doesn’t currently hold any official offers but he should be on the radar of college football programs as he has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
Evan Miller Evan Miller 6’3″ | 300 lbs | OL Breathitt County | 2024 State KY is an offensive lineman that came into this past weekend with high expectations from me and lived up to them. He was impressive in the position drills, showing quick feet in his pass sets and the ability to drive with short, choppy steps when run blocking. In 1v1 drills, he stood out a lot to me. He lined up at center and was able to make his snaps quickly and step to his man before they could gain an advantage. Miller played with a ton of physicality, showing a lot of fight and the ability to continue working until he finished his blocks. Evan currently holds one offer from Union College but I expect more to come his way as he has the talent to be a very reliable center at the next level.

Brody Phelps Brody Phelps 6’3″ | 295 lbs | OL McCracken County | 2024 State KY is another offensive lineman that we had high on our radar coming into this camp. He continued to impress, showing that he was one of the best offensive linemen there. In position drills, Brody showed smooth footwork in his pass sets and the ability to drive his feet through contact in run blocking drills. Brody also stood out during 1v1 drills, showing the ability to mirror opposing defensive lineman and keep a strong base through contact, not allowing for much penetration into the pocket. Phelps currently holds one offer from Murray State and I expect more to come his way as he definitely has the talent to play at the next level.
Xsavier Cleary Xsavier Cleary 6’1″ | 275 lbs | DL Paducah Tilghman | 2025 State KY came into this past weekend very high on our radar and he lived up to his expectations. Cleary was dominant all day, taking home the defensive line MVP award. During 1v1 drills, Cleary put on quite a show. He was very explosive out of his stance and was able to use his strength to drive opposing offensive linemen straight back into the pocket. Cleary also showed a nice variety of pass rush moves to quickly defeat blocks. Xsavier doesn’t currently hold any offers but is definitely a player to watch coming into his junior year as he has the talent to play at the college level.

Another defensive lineman that stood out on Sunday was Chad Hughes Chad Hughes 6’0″ | 200 lbs | DL Bardstown | 2025 KY from Nelson County. He stood out to me quickly during positional drills with his quick get offs and athleticism. Hughes continued to impress during 1v1 drills. He was able to use his quick first step and speed to blow right by offensive tackles off the edge. Hughes also showed a nice amount of bend to get around his blockers and some nice pass rush moves to defeat blocks. Chad doesn’t currently hold any offers but has received some college interest and has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.

While Ashby Spacek Ashby Spacek 6’0″ | 260 lbs | OL Mayfield | 2025 State KY plays on both sides of the ball at Mayfield, he played defensive line on Sunday. He was a player that truly stood out during the 1v1 drills. Ashby is very explosive with his first step out of his stance and is able to gain leverage quickly on opposing offensive linemen. He also showed that he has the strength to drive straight through offensive linemen and shed blocks quickly. Ashby also showed some impressive pass rush moves that were very effective throughout the 1v1 drills. Spacek doesn’t currently hold any offers but should be a player to watch this season as he has the talent to play on either side of the ball at the next level.
