However, the team still boasts several D1 prospects on its roster and has recently picked up a promising new recruit. DB Steven Jenkins Steven Jenkins 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB Gateway | 2024 State PA Jr, from Woodland Hills, who holds 2 FBS offers, has transferred to the team.
The Gators also have a number of blue-chip prospects who are poised for big seasons in 2023, including QB1 Brad Birch Brad Birch 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Gateway | 2024 State PA , RB Jaquon Reynolds Jaquon Reynolds 5'7" | 170 lbs | RB Gateway | 2024 State PA , LB Remy Bose Remy Bose 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB Gateway | 2024 State PA , and DB Kenny Lewis IV Kenny Lewis IV 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Gateway | 2025 State PA . Additionally, players such as Donovan Biggs Donovan Biggs 5'8" | 150 lbs | DB Gateway Senior | 2024 State PA , Ahmad Harris, and Amari Gans Amari Gans 5'10" | 170 lbs | LB Gateway | 2025 State PA are all worth keeping tabs on.
He’s a smooth athlete who’s very competitive. Lewis has great technique in press-man coverage and shows good ball skills on both offense and defense. He displays sharp footwork with a low pad level when backpedaling. His bail technique in cover 3 resembles that of a college defensive back. Kenny is a reliable tackler in open space and is quick to break on the ball. He exhibits breakaway speed and balance when returning kickoffs. Lewis currently holds an offer from UNLV and is visiting Rutgers this weekend.
Ahmad Harris
Ahmad Harris
Ahmad is fluid and physical in his movements. He blitzes with speed and aggression from the linebacker position. He’s a good tackler in space and moves well laterally in run pursuit. He displayed good hip movement when zone-dropping on his film. His nose for the ball and football IQ help him read plays swiftly. Harris displayed his ability to defeat blocks in both the interior and outside run game. He’s well-suited to be a special teams contributor at the next level. I think Ahmad is yet another D1 caliber player the Gators have at their disposal.
Donovan plays larger than his measurements at strong safety. He has good footwork pedaling and transitioning. Biggs is solid in man coverage and playing off the hash in cover 2. He’s a reliable open-field tackler who packs a punch when he collides with ball carriers. He displays good speed and aggression when running down on kickoff coverage. If Biggs works on his ball skills, his attributes will put him in a position to make interceptions. I think Biggs is suited to play scholarship-level ball.
Highlights
Amari displays athletic ability on both sides of the field. He has good speed running the ball from the running back position, and it’s only going to get better with time. He gives a good effort and is physical in defeating blocks. Gans does a good job of not allowing plays to spill outside of him at OLB. He gives good effort on special teams, going hard until the play is over. Gans is a blank canvas right now that could very well develop into a D1 player with production & offseason work.
Jenkins has 2 FBS offers and will now be playing with the Gateway Gators. He’s a big DB measuring in at 6’3 185 pounds. He’s fluid in zone and man coverage consistently contesting the ball. He‘s got good footwork pedaling & transitioning on deeper passes. He’s a physical CB that’s suited to play safety collegiately. His size and speed will be an asset in the special teams department.
When I watch Remy, I see a linebacker who looks comfortable tracking the ball laterally in run pursuit. He displays a strong understanding by his play recognition and sound instincts on defense. Remy is a physical player who approaches blitzes with a nasty attitude. He has four Division 1 offers, and he will undoubtedly be a key leader of a stacked defense this upcoming fall.
Brad presently has two D1 offers from Oregon and Akron. He’s an experienced pocket QB that makes good decisions. He is poised in the pocket and is skilled at keeping his eyes downfield under pressure. Birch doesn’t lock onto one target and distributes the ball evenly amongst his receivers. Gateway will go as far as Brad Birch Brad Birch 6’0″ | 190 lbs | QB Gateway | 2024 State PA can take them this year.
JaQuon is a blue-chip prospect who’s explosive with the ball. Reynolds runs the rock with good speed, vision, and patience. He’s known to be a dangerous playmaking wide receiver out of the backfield, capable of running both inside and outside the tackles. JaQuan has four FBS offers on the table and is one of the best recruits in the state.
