Luke Reed
Luke Reed
Luke Reed is an offensive coordinator’s best friend as an intelligent back that can gain chunk yardage by reading defense to get the most out of his opportunities. Showing patience behind the line of scrimmage, Reed has good vision to get through cracks in the defense for bulk yardage. Reed absorbs contact well and powers forward for a few yards once a tackle is engaged. When a play fully opens up, Reed has the speed to finish off plays. Reed gets involved in pass protection and shows good form in creating contact to give time to his quarterback. He can perform well in the passing game as another option downfield as well as in traffic. A multisport athlete, Reed is spending this offseason in the gym and the baseball diamond to keep focused and busy. Attending several camps, Reed is a name to watch out for with 7-on-7 camps on the horizon.

Markelle Carter
Markelle Carter
A polished pass-disruptor, Markelle Carter wears many hats for his team as a safety and a quarterback by excelling at both positions. On the defensive side of the ball, Carter shows quickness in his feet to keep within striking distance of receivers to close off routes. Carter has the instincts of a veteran defensive back to jump routes and has quick hands to knock down incoming passes. In space, Carter has strong closing speed to wrap up ball carriers with good form attacking larger players down low to bring them down. His discipline to keep to his zone cuts down on big play threats over him. On offense, Carter is quick-thinking quarterback with a nice arm to deliver balls on time. Because of his quick feet, Carter performs well in the RPO throwing and on the run. This offseason, Carter has spent time at Miami of Ohio and Cornell as he builds up his recruiting.

David Hawersaat
David Hawersaat
A quick and physical defensive end, David Hawersaat has the skill to bring pressure on any play in any situation. At 6’3, Hawersaat has long arms to push off on offensive linemen while keeping an eye on the ball to see what his next move should be. Showing the ability to overpower linemen or use his quickness, Hawersaat stays on his feet to keep himself in the play and force quarterbacks into rushed decisions. Hawersaat is able to defend against the RPO by keeping his body squared up to the play and use superior acceleration for his size to attack plays coming his way. He shows above average discipline to stay on assignment and not get sucked into blocks that could let to big gains. Hawersaat’s film impresses as a player that is still growing in his skills and usage on defense and deserves serious DI consideration after his junior year.
