For this series, I want to focus on some “Next Man Up” prospects. These players include young players that have begun to make a name for themselves, players coming into a bigger role this season, and key players coming off injuries. To kick off this series, here are some quarterbacks in the state of Kentucky to keep an eye on heading into the 2023 high school football season.
Cam O’Hara Cam O’Hara 6’2″ | 180 lbs | QB Cooper | 2026 State KY is a quarterback that burst onto the scene this past season. He had an outstanding freshman year, completing 128/219 passes for 2,018 yards, 21 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. O’Hara has a very impressive arm, showing the ability to stretch the field and hit his receivers in stride in the deep passing game. He also has shown very impressive ball placement, putting his passes where only his intended receiver has a chance to catch it. O’Hara has also shown the ability to escape the pocket when under pressure and keep his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. Cam recently picked up his first offer from Tennessee State and I expect many more to come his way as he is a Division I caliber quarterback prospect.
Ethan Teall Ethan Teall 6’6″ | 200 lbs | QB Paul Laurence Dunbar | 2024 State KY is a quarterback that had high expectations from me heading into last season but his junior year was unfortunately cut short due to injury. In the eight games he played in, Teall completed 63/122 passes for 605 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions. Teall is a tall, strong armed quarterback that throws a very impressive deep ball. He has shown the ability to stretch the field and lead his receivers down the field away from opposing defensive backs in the deep passing game. I also like his ability to go through his progressions quickly to find an open receiver. He also has shown impressive accuracy, putting the ball where only his intended receiver can catch it. Ethan doesn’t currently hold any offers but I expect some to come his way during his senior year as he has the talent to play somewhere at the next level and has been receiving some college interest.
Eli Creech
Eli Creech
Another talented quarterback in the 2024 class that unfortunately had his junior year cut short is Eli Creech from DuPont Manual. In the five games that Creech played in this past season he completed 50/90 passes for 682 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions. Creech has an impressive quick release in the short passing game. He is able to get his hips turned quickly and deliver the ball with impressive accuracy, hitting his receiver right out of their break. In the deep passing game, Creech has the arm to stretch the field and also puts a nice amount of touch on his passes. While Eli doesn’t currently hold any offers, I expect some to come his way as he has shown great strides this summer in 7 on 7 tournaments and I believe he is due for a big senior year for a talented Manual football team.
Dane Parsley Dane Parsley 6’1″ | 190 lbs | ATH Warren East | 2025 State KY is a young quarterback who truly started to make a name for himself this past season. He had a very impressive sophomore year, completing 124/203 passes for 1,880 yards, 30 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Parsley has impressive accuracy, showing the ability to fit passes into tight coverage and place the ball where only his receiver has a chance to catch it. He has the arm strength to stretch the field in the deep passing game. Warren East also uses Parsley as a weapon in the run game in the read option. He was electric as a ball carrier this past season, running the ball 148 times for 1,562 yards and 27 touchdowns. Dane doesn’t currently hold any offers but he is definitely a player to watch the next two seasons as he has the talent to play somewhere at the next level and has already received some college interest.
Trajdon Davis
Trajdon Davis
Another quarterback from the 2025 class that has caught my attention is Trajdon Davis from Henderson County. Davis had a strong sophomore year, completing 68/124 passes for 1,210 yards, 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He throws a very impressive deep ball, showing the arm strength to lead his receivers down the field and hit them in stride. Davis has also shown the ability to fit passes into tight coverage, putting the ball where only his receiver has a chance to catch it. Trajdon has also shown that he is very dangerous in the run game. Last season, Davis ran the ball 148 times for 784 yards and 11 touchdowns. While Trajdon doesn’t currently hold any offers, he is a name to keep an eye on as he has the potential to develop into a very good quarterback prospect.
Quashawn Thompson Quashawn Thompson 6’0″ | QB Louisville Atherton | 2025 KY is another incoming junior quarterback that caught my attention this past season. As a sophomore, Thompson completed 76/158 passes for 1,288 yards, 17 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Thompson has a cannon for an arm, showing the ability to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game. I also like his pocket presence a lot, showing a great feel for pressure and showing the ability to stand tall in the pocket and deliver strikes down the field while opposing pass rushers are closing in on him. Thompson has also shown the ability to make plays with his legs, running the ball 26 times for 167 yards and a touchdown this past season. Quashawn doesn’t currently hold any offers but is a player to watch
Peyton Molter Peyton Molter 6’2″ | 185 lbs | QB DeSales | 2024 State KY is a quarterback who has recently jumped onto my radar. As a junior, Molter completed 96/204 passes for 1,109 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Molter throws a nice deep ball, showing the ability to lead his receivers away from opposing defensive backs and hit them in stride. He also has shown the ability to escape pressure and keep his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. Molter has also shown the ability to tuck the ball and make plays on the ground, scoring two rushing touchdowns last season. Peyton doesn’t currently hold any offers but he is a name to keep an eye on as he has shown a lot of improvement this off-season and has been receiving some college interest.
Highlights
Evan Pitzer
Evan Pitzer
Another quarterback from the 2024 class to keep an eye on is Evan Pitzer from Covington Catholic. Pitzer took over the starting quarterback role last season, completing 79/122 passes for 1,082 yards, 10 touchdowns, and only two interceptions. He is a big, strong armed quarterback that has shown the ability to stretch the field with ease in the deep passing game. Pitzer also has shown the ability to use his arm strength to zip passes into tight windows. I also like his ability to go through his progressions quickly to find an open receiver. Pitzer has also shown the ability to make plays on the ground, running the ball 105 times for 312 yards and three touchdowns this past season. Evan doesn’t currently hold any offers but he should be on the radar of college coaches heading into his senior year as he has the talent to play quarterback at the next level.
Jack Zwernemann
Jack Zwernemann
Jack Zwernemann is an interesting prospect as he mainly played on defense at safety last season but will be sliding into the starting quarterback spot with last year’s Mr. Kentucky Football recipient, Travis Egan Travis Egan 6’2″ | 200 lbs | QB Bullitt East | 2023 State KY , graduating. In the limited action that he did see at quarterback this past season, Jack completed 13/21 passes for 85 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He has impressive ball placement, putting the ball where only his intended receiver has a chance to catch it. Jack also has a good quick release in the short passing game, getting his hips turned quickly to hit his intended receiver before opposing defensive backs can react. He is also a threat as a ball carrier, running the ball 19 times for 77 yards and a touchdown this past season. While Jack doesn’t currently hold any offers, he has received a lot of college interest and is a player that should pick up some offers as he has the talent to play multiple positions at the next level.
Ryan Anderson
Ryan Anderson
Ryan Anderson is another quarterback that will be stepping into a new role as a starter this season. Anderson transferred to Pulaski County from Southwestern last season and spent the year as senior Brysen Dugger Brysen Dugger 6’2″ | 185 lbs | QB Pulaski County | 2023 State KY ‘s backup. In the limited snaps that he did see at quarterback as a sophomore, Anderson completed 8/13 passes for 107 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. He has impressive accuracy, showing the ability to fit passes into tight coverage and hit receivers out of their breaks. Anderson has also shown the ability to tuck the ball and pick up yards on the ground, running the ball 13 times for 96 yards last season. While Anderson doesn’t have much film or stats to go off of just yet, he is definitely a player to keep an eye on as he is transitions into the starting role in a usually very impressive Pulaski County passing game.
