Continue ReadingOffers are flying in New York, and I expect this series to continue at a weekly or biweekly rate as coaches hit the road and talk to programs and recruits all around the nation. With some big schools headed through New York, we have already seen some kids pick up offers after talking with coaches, while some schools are offering kids with plans to get on the road soon and be in contact with them through the summer. New York is showing that D1, IVY, DII, and even DIII schools are really taking notice of some of the top athletes coming out of the state.
Donald Jones Donald Jones 5’9″ | 165 lbs | ATH CBA-Albany | 2024 State NY is one of the most talented athletes in the Class of 24′ and the multi position player picked up his first offer from LIU. Jones played big roles on both sides of the ball for CBA-Albany and looks to be the go-to guy for one of the best teams in upstate New York.
2024 OL Roosevelt Mitchell Roosevelt Mitchell 6’3″ | 315 lbs | OL Medina | 2024 State NY is new on our radar and is already one of the most talented and sought after lineman in New York. Mitchell has picked up three D1 offers this month from Boston College, UMass, and Akron and I would expect more schools to get involved over the spring and summer.
Eddie Palumbo Eddie Palumbo 6’4″ | 210 lbs | LB Archbishop Stepinac | 2024 State NY picked up his second IVY league offer and it comes from the local Columbia University in New York. Palumbo is one of the top linebackers in the state and received pretty solid interest from IVY’s so far.
Highlights
Alex Menghi Alex Menghi 6’4″ | 215 lbs | TE St. Anthony’s | 2024 State NY also picked up his second IVY league offer, also being from Columbia. Menghi now is up to four offers with Maine, UPenn, and Stony Brook rounding out the other opportunities. Menghi will be one of the most sought after TE recruits and a big target for local FCS/IVY schools through this season.
Highlights
Luke Snisky Luke Snisky 6’0″ | 260 lbs | DL Iona Prep | 2024 State NY , a DT for Iona Prep got his first offer from Westfield State. The 6′ 260lbs defender looks to take a big step forward with a bigger role due to the graduation of Capri Martin Capri Martin 6’2″ | 270 lbs | DL Iona Prep | 2023 State NY , one of the top DL in NY. Just the start for Snisky who helps make up a really good DL group for Iona Prep.
Syair Torrence Syair Torrence 5’11” | 195 lbs | ATH CBA-Syracue | 2024 State NY is already committed to his hometown Syracuse but picked up an offer from Michigan State, as Safeties Coach Jim Salgado travels through Western NY meeting up with New York’s top prospects in that region. Torrence’s commitment seems very stable at this point but a couple other D1 schools have jumped in the mix for the silky smooth route runner from CBA Syracuse.
Highlights
The reference of Michigan State safeties coach really applies here because coach Salgado is former Buffalo Bills coach and Marcus Harrison Marcus Harrison 6’8″ | 335 lbs | OL St. Francis | 2024 State NY is currently one of the best players out of the Buffalo area. Recent offers from Michigan State and Georgia make it 14 D1 offers for Harrison. Most of those being top programs across the nation.
Highlights
Blake Belin Blake Belin 6’2″ | 270 lbs | DL Cardinal Hayes | 2025 State NY has picked up a couple offers in a strong April from him. Just like Rich, Blake was offered by Jackson State. One of the top DL in New York Blake also got a local D1 offer from UConn to add to a big Power 5 offer from Minnesota earlier in the month. Belin, also a 2025 is just getting started recruiting wise.
Joe Reagan Joe Reagan 6’0″ | 240 lbs | OL Fordham Prep | 2024 State NY , one of Fordham Prep’s top returners picked up his first offer to play college football at Carleton College. Carleton has their eye on New York as Reagan is the second NY 2024 they have offered this month and the two way player showed last season some solid potential at the next level and this year could start to generate some buzz as a recruit.
My #1 player in the class continues to get love across the nation. Duff Jr since, his initial inclusion in the first part of our recruiting spotlight has received offers from Duke, Miami, Boston College, and Purdue all in April and was named a 4-star by On3. Duff Jr. continues to get national love it seems like that Miami offer was a big one for the WR/TE from St. Anthony’s.
