The 2024 class is loaded with returning receivers who are bound to play at the D1 level down the road, and they’re bound for monster seasons once again as seniors in 2023.
Caleb Odum – Carrollton
One of the top tight end prospects across the country in the 2024 class, Odum had a giant junior season for the mighty Trojans this past fall, helping lead a potent passing attack all the way to the 7A state championship. The 4-star prospect was a major target for freshman phenom Julian Lewis Julian Lewis 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Carrollton | 2025 GA , and made big plays as a pass-catcher all season long, catching 64 passes for 1,121 yards and 13 touchdowns. At 6-foot-5 2-5pounds, he was an easy target down the field who also knew how to pick up yards after the catch. The outstanding junior averaged 17.5 yards per catch and 80 yards per game. He went over the 100-yard mark five times on the year with his best game coming in the 7A state championship game against Mill Creek where he caught seven passes for 167 yards and one touchdown.
Ny Carr Ny Carr 5'10" | 175 lbs | WR Colquitt County | 2024 State GA – Colquitt County
A speedy, explosive receiver from South Georgia at powerhouse Colquitt County, the Moultire native is currently committed to play for the in-state Georgia Bulldogs and it’s easy to see why. Thee 6-foot-0 170-pounder is a major vertical weapon with enough speed to fly past defenders with ease. A four-star prospect, Carr caught 62 passes as a junior last year for 1,051 yards and 10 touchdowns, with a long of 83 yards. He’s a threat to score any time he has the ball and will be a dangerous down-field option again as a senior. He averaged about 17 yards per catch last year and 88 yards per game. A game-changer at wide receiver, Carr recorded at least 150 receiving yards in three games last year with his biggest game coming against rival Lowndes where he caught seven passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns.
Brady Kluse Brady Kluse 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Harrison | 2024 State GA – Harrison
One of the more underrated junior receivers not only in Cobb County, but across the state in the 2024 class, Kluse was as consistent as it gets last year and with a promising 6-foot-3 185-pound frame and the ability to get open on his own. He showed strong, reliable hands and the ability to make plays down the field. Kluse was the third leading receiver in the 2024 class last season, catching 66 passes for 1,033 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was as dependable as it gets last season, going over the 100-yard mark five times, giving his best every Friday night. His best game came early in the season against South Forsyth where he caught 9 passes for 150 yards and three touchdowns. He can absolutely play somewhere at the next level and bound for a gigantic 2023 senior season.
Mike Matthews Mike Matthews 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Parkview | 2024 State GA – Parkview
A 5-star prospect and the top-ranked wide receiver across Georgia, there isn’t much Matthews can’t do as a playmaking wideout. He has plenty of size at 6-foot-1 180-pounds and one of the best route-runners in the state. He does a great job os snatching the ball out of the air and a consistent matchup nightmare for defensive backs in single coverage. The playmaking junior made a giant impact on both sides of the ball, but as a receiver, Matthews hauled in 48 passes for 1,038 yards for an average of around 22 yards per catch, making him one of the biggest big-play receivers not only in 7A, but across the state. He’s a threat to score on any particular play, scoring nine receiving touchdowns in 12 games. He’s a 5-star for a reason and will likely light up thee state sheet again as a senior in the fall.
Hunter Teal Hunter Teal 6'2" | 220 lbs | TE Walton | 2024 State GA – Walton
One of the most productive pass-catchers across Cobb County and 7A last year, Teal showed terrific ball skills and was a reliable option for talented junior quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski Jeremy Hecklinski 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Walton | 2024 State GA all season long in 2022. At 6-foot-2 225-pounds, Teal is a good athlete at tight end who can be tough to bring down after the catch. He can make a play on the ball over smaller defenders and consistently found a way to make big plays every Friday night. He was a big reason why the Raiders had such an impressive passing attack last year, hauling in 50 passes for 970 yards for an average of 75 yards per game and 19.4 yard per catch. When he has the ball, good things tend to happen. He was 5th last year among juniors in the 7A classification and will hope to lead Walton to another big playoff run in 2023.
