Mitchell consistently uses his length to attack the football, rarely catching the ball with his body or flat-footed, making him especially effective in the red zone. However, Mitchell is more than just a downfield threat; his athleticism and ability to make defenders miss after the catch should put defenses on notice as well, as he has the speed and elusiveness to take the underneath routes and fast screens for 6. Mitchell is also a ball hawk in the secondary, playing off the hash or in the middle of the field at safety. At 6'4, he maintains low pad level in his back pedal and has extremely fluid hips that help him to transition out of his backpedal without losing a step in coverage. Even when the ball gets outside of the box, his motor continues to run as he will run down the fast screens and quick game from the defensive end position. Offensively, he checks all the boxes in what every OC wants from their tight end. Not only is he a physical and punishing blocker at the point of attack, but he is also a great route runner who is dynamic with the ball in his hands. Murray's big frame makes him a prime and reliable target over the middle who can make defenders miss or break tackles after the catch.
