Continue ReadingOL will always be at the core of a well built football team. Offensive line is the hardest position in the ultimate team game and sums it up the best, as they’re some of the smartest and biggest players but also get the least amount of credit from casual observers. This makes it one of the harder positions to fill, with a constant demand for these rare builds of power and play-processing. All told, these five standouts all show tons of promise for college and beyond.
Tyler Blevins Tyler Blevins 6’5″ | 280 lbs | OL Yelm | 2024 State WA is an incredibly well-rounded OL with the agility and ferocity to get into great positions and dominate. He anchors Yelm’s explosive offense by being one of the most solid starters in the entire state. He’s super effective in the run game, regularly pulling and mauling downfield with great use of leverage, routinely hitting players from efficient angles and getting the most from his force with good angles. This skill is promising from a well-built lineman and makes him a stout prospect who could play early at the next level. He also takes pride in his pass blocking ability, where he didn’t allow a single sack in the Tornadoes’ State Title run last year. His potential shines at both Tackle and Guard as his movement and size are rare. He also competes in hammer, discus and shotput throwing events and holds a 3.9 GPA. Blevins will be a hot name in recruiting circles as colleges constantly need prolific OL and his tools are in the heaviest demand. Has garnered interest from several high-profile colleges and should see offers pouring in soon.
Highlights
Pule Leatigaga Pule Leatigaga 6’3″ | 305 lbs | OL Garfield | 2024 State WA has a great combination of gifts and grit. He has the prerequisite size to hold his own against the best pass rushers while he keeps his center of gravity back and has surprisingly good footwork for his size. He uses his enormous leg strength to stay in front of DL, and is persistent with arm engagement utilizing his upper body. He’s grown and improved this offseason, currently listing himself as an ideal 6’5 300 while looking frighteningly good in recent showcase clips. His recruitment is finally taking off before his Senior campaign, with a half-dozen schools reported to be pursuing him and more expected to join the race. Leatigaga has all the tools to thrive as an OL in college and could highlight a deep Senior class by drawing some big-ticket offers.
Carson Osmus Carson Osmus 6’6″ | 285 lbs | OL Camas | 2024 State WA is a big-framed OT with as much pure power as anyone. He can pancake defenders with a simple shove or drive them into the ground with his lower body, where his wide base roots him into a strong foundation. His feet are ready and his get off is noticeably quick on tape, which is also highlighted by his pliability, as his low get off makes his knee and hip mobility appear uncanny for a player of his size. This foundational skill translates across all levels and means he’ll be a hard battle to get leverage on. He’s a great pulling guard and a natural pass protector who rarely meets his match in the run game. Osmus has all the tools to compete with the other best linemen in the state and possibly the nation, but will definitely be a huge commitment to get for a college football team.
Jojo Matautia is an extremely fun guard to watch. It’s hard not to get hyped seeing him excitedly getting into space and blasting defenders as he accelerates through contact. His low center of gravity and quick movement make him a difficult leverage matchup, which he consistently takes advantage of. He has a good get off and uses it to punish DL who don’t, or take a play off, in the run game. His footwork is great at both Guard and Tackle, and although he projects to fit better on the inside, he can kick out to execute versatile schemes on the outside. He continues to earn his spot as a top OL in the State. Matautia will produce tons more tape as he anchors one of the top teams in the state in Eastside Catholic and has looked great at Center in offseason camps with FSP.
Simetti Jennings Simetti Jennings 6’3″ | 310 lbs | OL Life Christian | 2025 State WA is a hulking Sophomore who took a D1 visit as a Freshman. He is the key cog in Life Christian Academy’s current rebuild, as he plays each OL position to stave off the opponent’s best rushers. This is helping him grow into his big frame, as he develops versatile blocking techniques that force him to get the most out of his footwork. He’s well coordinated and holds his own, as he locks in with his hands and doesn’t let people by. While he has an instinct to impede them from getting past him, he’s still learning how to let plays develop and take efficient angles of attack to maximize his power into offensive production. Jennings will be a big recruit and will perform for LCA, but the sky’s the limit and he has tons of room to keep improving.
