Washington 2029 class rankings: Discussing 1-10

But what's encouraging about the group is that there are already several notable stars in the class, including a top four that already boasts national offers.   That group of four could all end up being top-100 prospects by the time Signing Day 2029 rolls around in a few years - and already holds that distinction on one publication.    If the rest of the top 10 rounds into form, and several more players emerge in 11-50 range, we could be talking about an elite class that every program in the country feels compelled to try to tap into.    OL/DL [player_tooltip player_id='1397364' first='Kamari' last='Wilson'], Mount Tahoma — Wilson's freshman tape reaches rarified air for me.   There aren't many prospects who I've watched on film as freshman have dominant reps against seniors who are headed to the Power 4.   In fact, I can think of only a small handful during my entire decade-plus-long career.   Wilson's tape checks that box for me, and was a big reason why he made the push to No. 1.   I see a lot of potential throughout this class, but Wilson is already one of the best offensive linemen in the entire region.   He'd be an all-Northwest offensive lineman for me right now.   Wilson is rated as highly as the No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 13 overall lineman nationally by a national publication and that falls in line with what I see.   It's possible he slides into guard at the next level if he doesn't continue to grow beyond his current 6-foot-4, 270-pound frame, but that would still may him one of the best interior line prospects in the country.   Wilson's offer sheet speaks to that, highlighted by Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Cal, Oregon, TCU, Washington and others.   OL [player_tooltip player_id='1397350' first='Xavier' last='Berry'], Federal Way — Right now, there's a bit of “pick your flavor” between Wilson and Berry of the top offensive linemen.   Wilson is the more polished lineman right now, but Berry's size (6-foot-7, 275 pounds) ensures he will stick at tackle.   I saw Berry this offseason at The Northwest Showcase, and was struck by his athleticism and fluidity for his age and height.   Even more impressive?   Berry looks like a play who could still comfortably gain 30-40 pounds and not miss a beat.   His highest ranking is the No. 5 offensive tackle in the country, and that's not overstating things.   If Berry adds the necessary bulk and strength to his frame - there's plenty of time - he could eventually be a five-star offensive tackle prospect.   The ceiling is “NFL” high.   DL [player_tooltip player_id='1969806' first='Kitiona' last='Tupua'], Puyallup — It has to be a special group to have a guy as talented as Tupua ranked at No. 3.   The 6-foot-2, 300-pound interior defensive lineman already boasts nearly 20 scholarship offers, including Arizona, Arizona State, Texas, Texas A&M, Washington and others.   Tupua was sensational last season and built upon that with a monster camp season.   He's rated as highly as the nation's No. 27 overall prospect, and I see no reason that this ranking doesn't align with that one.   At PRZ, we simply feel Washington has the potential to deliver three five-star prospects in the class.   It's an elite group.   WR [player_tooltip player_id='1397315' first='Justin' last='Suega'], Federal Way — The 6-foot-4, 195-pound pass-catcher picked up an offer from the Miami Hurricanes this week to go along with Arizona, Utah, Washington and others and he hasn't even officially played a snap as a sophomore.   That would typically put someone firmly in the mix for the No. 1 ranking.   But in this class, he's solidly in the top four with potential to rise as he develops.   A top-100 prospect nationally, Suega should deliver a monster season at Federal Way, the type of numbers that start “No. 1 receiver in the nation” chatter.   He's got that kind of ceiling.   At some point it begins to sound hyperbolic to describe the top four players in such lofty terms.   But that's the reality of the 2029 group.   It's absolutely loaded at the top.   ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1397322' first='Marquis' last='Tovia'], Rainier Beach — The 6-foot-3, 185-pound athlete has offers from Cal, UCLA, Utah, Washington, Washington State and others.   That's a very solid list for a player who hasn't yet taken a snap as a sophomore.   Tovia was a first-team all-league receiver last fall, but might have his highest ceiling on defense as a defensive back.   Right now, he could project either way, but he may wind up being one of the most coveted DBs on the entire West Coast.   WR [player_tooltip player_id='2065218' first='Siosaia' last='Malietufa'], Puyallup — The 6-foot-2, 170-pound pass-catcher was a star for O'Dea as a freshman last fall, earning second-team all-Metro honors.   Puyallup is absolutely loaded this fall, and will be a must-stop for college football coaches.   While Malietufa's lone offer is currently from Colorado State, it would be somewhat surprising to not see him reach double-digits by the end of the camp circuit.   He's about to have yet another big-time seasons.   RB [player_tooltip player_id='1397382' first='Damari'ae' last='Barrington'], Rainier Beach — The 5-foot-10, 190-pound ball-carrier is going to be one of the biggest breakout stars of this fall's high school football season.   While he was a rotational back for Spanaway Lake last season, he makes the move to Rainier Beach and should be among the best running backs in the state.    Barrington is a dynamic athlete and solid pass-catcher who can do a little of everything out of the backfield.   Expect his numbers to match his considerable hype.    QB [player_tooltip player_id='1557937' first='Jadis' last='Lefono'], Lakes — The Offensive MVP of his league as a freshman, Lefono is going to put up insane career numbers.    Expect both his passing numbers (17 passing touchdowns) and his average yards per carry as a runner (6.4) to go up as his age allows his athleticism and maturity continues to surpass that of his peers over the next few years.    Lefono has an early offer from San Diego State, but will likely be a Power 4 prospect when the time comes.   Make no mistake, the next three years are going to be flat-out special.   WR Kehano Corpus, Graham-Kapowsin — The 6-foot, 165-pound pass-catcher has to share the load the Graham-Kapowsin, which has one of the best receiving corps in the entire country.   [player_tooltip player_id='985348' first='Jayce' last='Halasz'] is beginning to push for five-star status - he added an Alabama offer recently - and [player_tooltip player_id='937738' first='Kase' last='Betz'] is one of the most under-recruited receivers in the country and will be a steal for Montana State.    Still, Corpus managed to racked up more than 600 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman last year.   Expect a big jump in production, and for Corpus to emerge as an all-state-caliber athlete.    LB [player_tooltip player_id='1397377' first='Andrew' last='Peapea'], Federal Way — The 6-foot-2, 225-pound ‘backer holds a lone offer from UNLV, but projects as a double-digit offer guy by the time his high school days come to an end.   Peapea has a tough, physical old-school mentality at the linebacker position, but has enough athleticism to drop back into coverage.    Unfortunately, Peapea is going to miss the first half of the season due to transfer rules.   That will affect his end of season numbers and accolades, but make no mistake he's quickly emerging as one of the state's best linebackers.
