IOWA CITY, Iowa – The in-state 2024 Class was strong. The group behind it has gotten off to a good start, a sign that the overall talent pool in Iowa is rising.

Scouts at Prep Red Zone offer up a great, extensive list of '25s. I'm guessing plenty of these names you'll read about in this series will be on it.

Here's the third installment (first two linked above):

[player_tooltip player_id='1360745' first='Grant' last='Wilson'], C, Solon - I hadn't heard about Wilson prior to seeing him play last season. He immediately jumped out. That he was Solon's starting center as a sophomore should have alerted me. At 6-feet, 235 pounds, he's not the biggest guy in the trench. That said, he plays with excellent pad level and leverage. He's strong and drives through opponents. His Hudl highlights say he allowed two sacks in 532 snaps during '22.

[player_tooltip player_id='1361107' first='Titan' last='Schmitt'], ATH, Clear Lake - It's a bit early for position projection at the next level when it comes to Schmitt. He displays playmaking ability on both sides of the ball. I'm thinking safety at this point but he has half his high school career to go. He's a good athlete with speed laterally and in a straight line. He carried the ball 194 times for 977 yards and 17 touchdowns during his sophomore campaign. He intercepted two passes as a defensive back.

[player_tooltip player_id='604773' first='Louden' last='Grimsley'], ATH, Lawton Bronson - Grimsley's Hudl profile lists his 40-yard dash at 4.39 seconds (laser timed) and shows a 40-inch vertical leap. His highlights reveal a guy that puts those athletic gifts to good use. He catches contested balls. As you would imagine, he's electric in the return game. He caught 32 passes for 601 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore. He averaged 28.1 yards on seven kick returns.

[player_tooltip player_id='252315' first='Tiernan' last='Vokes'], TE/DE, Grundy Center - Vokes paced the state's sophomores with 10 touchdown receptions in '22. He caught 26 passes for 461 yards. He added 19 tackles (1.5 for loss) and a sack. At 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, Vokes already shows signs of being a complete tight end. His athleticism and soft hands makes him effective in the passing game. He looks like he enjoys blocking and is good at it.

[player_tooltip player_id='252226' first='William' last='Nuss'], QB, Johnston - Nuss is being overshadowed by some talented, older signal callers in the state. It's a position continuing to improve in Iowa. His time is coming, however. The arm strength is undeniable. He also boasts really nice accuracy and touch on the deep ball. He's a good athlete with feel in the pocket and throws well on the run. He averaged 16.0 yards per completion with 23 touchdown passes and eight interceptions as a sophomore.

Gabe Gunn, RB, Des Moines North - Gunn can run, highlighted by very good power and strength. Arm tackles will be swatted away like flies. He shows real good vision carrying the ball inside, which allows him to hit the holes hard. And, again, once he gets going, you better bring a few hats to the ball. He rushed for 575 yards and nine touchdowns as a complementary back to senior Aron Gonkaryon in '22. If he gets more work this Fall, there will be additional opponents punished.

Marvin Neely IV, S/OLB, Davenport West - Neely IV is an active athlete on both sides of the ball. I would lean defense at this point but there's time for that to change. He pursues very well from the second level and wraps up upon arrival. He plays with good balance and control. He averaged 8.4 yards on 18 carries as a running back as a sophomore. He totaled 63.5 tackles (42 solo, 10.0 for loss) with 4.0 sacks.
