Alabama is one of the more underrated states in the country when it comes to high school football talent. There are numerous prospects across the state that might not get the attention they deserve nationally. Here, we uncover some of the best national sleepers that the 2024 class in Alabama has to offer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1036629' first='Jared' last='Hollins'] - QB - Mary G. Montgomery

One of the top QB prospects in the Mobile area, Hollins has generated some buzz out of Alabama this offseason. Hollins is a true Ivy League prospect with recent offers from Yale and Columbia. He also holds a few P5 offers from schools like Boston College and NC State. On film, Hollins is a standout in far more ways than one. He has a lighting quick release and shows the ability to drive the ball down the field. By getting the ball out quickly, he can make throws into closing windows and avoid getting sacked. Along with his arm talent, Hollins is also a good athlete and can make plays with his legs. His speed and twitchiness also allow him to extend plays in the pocket and escape pressure. Hollins is a well-rounded QB prospect that showcases some intangibles on the surface. While he is already a pretty legit QB prospect, he is still lurking on the national scale.

[player_tooltip player_id='723241' first='Nate' last='Thomason'] - LB - Helena

Lengthy and versatile LB prospect that has generated a lot of buzz this offseason. This offseason, Hollins has picked up his first set of offers from Jacksonville State, Air Force, and Dartmouth. Thomason is the definition of a game-breaker. Wherever he lines up, he is going to make a momentum-changing play. When rushing off the edge, he is incredibly explosive and shows some excellent strength as he heads for the QB. He can run sideline to sideline from the traditional LB spot and also has enough speed and length to be a force in pass coverage. He is an elite tackler and has the unique ability to punch the ball out and give the ball back to his offense. Each game runs through Thomason, which makes him an impact player that should be given a solid look by any program in the country.

[player_tooltip player_id='451875' first='Trashun' last='Griffin'] - DL - Bibb County

With a recent offer from Mississippi State, Griffin is officially on the map in the southeast as a recruit. I expect his stock to continue to rise and his name to pop up on recruiting boards across the region and possibly the entire country. At 6'4 240, Griffin wreaks havoc on the offense with his combination of size and explosiveness off the edge. Off the snap, he creates instant penetration with his first step and shows good bend and body control off the edge. He has excellent speed and a high motor which allows him to chase after QBs and RBs trying to evade. Griffin plays with good control and fundamentals, keeping his eyes up and finding the ball carrier while going to work.

[player_tooltip player_id='541000' first='Da'Marion' last='Bothwell'] - RB - Oneonta

Very well-rounded RB prospect coming off a monster junior season. Bothwell exploded in the playoffs, rushing for nearly 1000 yards alone. With recent offers from Austin Peay, Southeast Missouri, and North Alabama, Bothwell has emerged as a legit D1 football prospect. Bothwell is built extremely well at 6'0 215. He carries his weight well and looks like he has room to grow and get even bigger. Has excellent vision, keeping his eyes downfield to dissect running lanes up front and as he gets to the second level. He can start and stop and change directions fluidly which allows him to gain leverage on defenders. Bothwell is a patient runner that runs behind his pads and waits for blocks to develop. With his combination of speed and controlledness, Bothwell is a well-rounded RB prospect that should be highly sought after on the trail.
