These are guys that I’ve honestly given less than adequate exposure to over the past 6 months or so, and looking into them now, I know they deserve some exposure! Here, we have a DIII-graded WR, a great NAIA-grade QB that almost nobody knows about, and a versatile DT that is projected as a LB at the next level!
Drew MaKool | WR | Walled Lake Northern
I spoke with an anonymous source close to the Walled Lake Northern program, and he had a glowing review of Drew. This is a very athletic and elusive receiver with some solid stats! Drew posted 683 yards, 6 TDs, and 31 receptions over 9 games. Those are some good stats, but in my opinion, could have done worlds better under a better situation. I’m rarely this blunt, but WLN’s offense was abysmal, especially at the Quarterback position. When looking at his tape, it’s evident that Drew is a great player with a TON of upside! He’s a great slot receiver with many speed-in-space plays. I hope some college coaches get an eye on this kid. In my eyes, this is. a good DIII prospect!
Jake Zann Jake Zann 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Alpena | 2024 State MI | QB | Alpena
Although I don’t think Jake is at the top of the QB class, he’s still one of the best QBs in Northern MI and, without a doubt, the best QB in Northeast Michigan. Jake has a huge arm and can straight-up sling it! He has many highlights where he makes plays when the play is seemingly broken, and there are spurts of extremely good throw power and overall accuracy. In particular, amazing mid-range throws on a frozen rope of a pass, and some pinpoint deep balls. Easy NAIA grade for Jake, and I truly think he’s good enough to play at the next level!
J’len Anderson J’len Anderson 5'10" | 195 lbs | DL Warren Fitzgerald | 2024 MI | DL | Warren Fitzgerald
J’len may be a tad small for an interior D-Lineman, but he makes up for this in multiple ways. First and foremost, his speed jumps off the tape. Both his sophomore and junior year tape showcase an extremely quick getoff. I also love how he’s utilized in stunts to make the most of his speed. Once he’s off the ball, he has good speed moves and is able to get into the backfield quickly for easy TFLs. I think he’d be better suited at LB in college, but even as a D-Lineman, he’s great.
