To go with those two players, we also have three players representing other great programs from the state. A mixture of shut down corners and hard hitting safeties, the 2025 class of defensive backs have a little bit of everything. Read on to see what these players have to offer.
St. Joseph’s Jahmir Joseph Jahmir Joseph 6’1″ | 175 lbs | DB St. Joes Regional | 2025 State NJ is a cornerback you need to keep your eye on. This man is a true shut down corner that already has senior level size. He breaks on the ball extremely quickly, doing a great job reading the receiver’s movement so he can beat them to the ball. When he meets the receiver there, you can be sure Jahmir is going to fight for the ball.
Jahmir is the type of corner you want a jump ball or fade thrown his direction. He’s either coming down with the ball or swatting it out of the hands of the receiver. Jahmir is a special talent, and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if we see him in the College Football Playoffs in the future.
Another stud coming out of Bergen Catholic’s 2025 class, Naiim Parrish Naiim Parrish 5’11” | 185 lbs | DB Bergen Catholic | 2025 State NJ is another young shut down cornerback. He seems to have mastered so many aspects of his game very early in his career. Whether it’s breaking down to wrap up the runner, or baiting a QB to throw into his territory, there are few holes in Naiim’s game. With great anticipation and quickness, Naiim can change direction the moment the ball leaves the QB’s hand and make a play on it.
Naiim is another player with great size as a sophomore, and it will be interesting to see how big of an impact he will have these next two falls. He is a very well rounded cornerback, really going neck and neck with Jahmir for the best CB coming out of NJ in 2025.
Renick Doralis may be the fastest defensive back on this list. You will not find many players that can outrun him. He is so quick he could seriously play slot receiver at the next level if he wanted to. I imagine he could also be used as a secret weapon on special teams in the return game as well. The Union product is a lockdown corner in man to man. The QB better be on point when throwing Renick’s direction, because there’s a good chance he’ll regret it. Union and Renick have big things coming this next fall.
A Peddie product, Eric Cho Eric Cho 5’10” | 175 lbs | DB Peddie | 2025 State NJ is the first true safety on the Rising Stars list. With 28 tackles and 5 PBU in 2022, Eric made his presence know early on in his high school career. With flawless technique, Eric has quick and choppy feet. His back peddle looks like its been practiced and perfected over many years of training. When the ball is released, Eric gets his hips around quickly and breaks on the ball. He has a good combination of speed and size, able to go stride to stride with most receivers and deliver a hit at the line when needed. We should hear more about Peddie’s excellent safety Eric Cho Eric Cho 5’10” | 175 lbs | DB Peddie | 2025 State NJ this next season.
Highlights
The final player to make the list is another safety, Dominic Carter Dominic Carter 5’9″ | 180 lbs | DB Burlington Township | 2025 State NJ . Playing for Burlington, Dominic was disruptive to all offensive schemes in 2022. He is one of the better tacklers on the list. Dominic looks like he’s shot out of cannon when he gets into the backfield. He has a hound mentality, pursuing the runner relentlessly until their in his grasp. Dominic played a somewhat hybrid position in 2022. He played up close to the line for the majority of his highlights, so it will be great to see him get more involved in the pass coverage in 2023.
