There are several outstanding Defensive Linemen throughout the state of Ohio and here are five awesome Defensive Linemen from Cincinnati to keep an eye on in 2023!
In 2022, Ted’s excellent play was a bright spot in the 5-7 season of the St. Xavier Bombers where they advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs. The future Michigan Wolverine plays as a DE and NT. Against the pass, he fires out quickly and uses his good play strength and use of hands to walk the OL back before quickly disengaging. He closes quickly and finishes up with a sack. Against the run, he easily overpowers the interior OL with his very good physical toughness and easily disengages. He shows good instincts as he takes the correct angle in pursuit and makes the tackle preventing a gain of significant yardage.
In 2022, Elijah’s awesome play played a big role in the 13-win season for Lakota West. He plays as a DT. Against the run, he is quick off the ball and uses his great play strength and physical toughness as he sheds the block from the OG with ease. He uses his good athleticism in pursuit before making the tackle outside the tackle box. Against the pass, he uses his quality burst to overpower the OG and quickly enters the backfield. He does a great job chasing down the QB before he finishes up with a sack.

In 2022, Liam helped the Elder Panthers to a 10-win season where they held opposing offenses to 16.8 points per game and advance to the 3rd round of the playoffs. He plays as a DE. Against the pass, he fires out quickly and shows excellent use of hands in the placement, punch and timing combined with very good play strength as he quickly disengages. He uses his good play speed in pursuit and quickly ends up with a sack. Against the run, he shows quality physical toughness as he sheds the block from the OT, takes good angles in pursuit and makes the tackle preventing a gain of significant yardage.
In 2022, Jewett helped the Archbishop Moeller Fighting Crusaders to a 13-win season where they held opposing offenses to 15.9 points per game and advance to the Division I Semifinals. He plays as an EDGE. Against the pass, he exhibits a good combination of power and speed to quickly disengage from the OT. He shows good play speed in pursuit and effectively pressures the QB into making a poor decision with the ball or finishes up with a sack. Against the run, he shows good use of hands and physical toughness to shed the block. He shows good play speed in pursuit before making the tackle behind the LOS for a TFL.
In 2022, Trey’s great play was a bright spot in the 3-8 season of the Hamilton Big Blue. He lines up as an EDGE. Against the pass, he uses his quality athleticism to defeat the OT in pass pro. He shows good range in pursuit before finishing up with a sack. Against the run, his combination of speed, power and use of hands prevents the OT from making the block. Once he penetrates the LOS, he shows great closing speed and takes good angles in pursuit before making the tackle in the backfield for a TFL.
