Players can get interest early, but often times, it’s the spring and summer of their junior year where things began to take shape. With the Transfer Portal on ice for a couple more months, the Class of 2024 recruits are the center of attention. Here are several players who flew under the radar but have seen their visits, interest and offers pick up as we head into the midway point of this recruiting cycle.

Lemberg has an explosive game, he is shifty off the line of scrimmage which enables him to create separation early, he runs crisp routes and his ability to get in and out of his breaks quickly, make him a reliable target. The name Cannon fits him to a tee, he has the speed to stretch the defense and runs like he was shot from a cannon. He has an extended catch radius, he tracks the ball in flight with late hands and he can explode up top, which enables him to win on the 50/50 contested grabs. A gifted athlete, Lemberg flips to the defensive side at Gunter and attacks opponents with the same vigor that he plays with offensively. He tackles well in the open field, he has the versatility to cover wideouts at defensive back and if he gets his hands on the football Lemberg switches immediately to an offensive threat. Cannon has been apart of two State Championships at Gunter, he was selected First Team All-State in 2022 and lead the team in receptions. Sam Houston State and Marshall University have offers on the table, but Navy, Austin Peay, Stephen F. Austin, Princeton and Holy Cross all have extended invites to the dynamic playmaker. Look for Lemberg’s stock to continue to trend upward as he heads into his senior season.

rnCorn is physical at the point of attack, he has a powerful punch, uses his 84 inch wingspan to get hands on defenders violently and he plays with a mean streak. Cyler has a strong solid base, he stays locked on his opponent in the run game and he has the athleticism to get to the second level and punish defensive backs. Corn lines up at defensive tackle and causes havoc. He explodes off the ball, he gets a strong push to collapse the pocket in the run game and he has the speed to make plays from the backside. Corn projects at the next level as a top flight offensive line prospect, at 6’6 295 pounds he has the frame to add muscle and line up at multiple positions due to his ability to move well in space. A recent visit to Louisiana Tech, as well as camp invites to Texas State, Southwest Baptist and East Central University, show that schools are turning their attention toward Corn. I fully expect Cyler to began the fall with multiple offers on the table.

Franklin has a swiss army knife skill set, with his versatile game, he can line up at several positions and make teams pay with his ability to be a home run threat. At defensive back, whether corner or safety, Franklin has natural instincts that take over and allow him to make plays on the football routinely. He is smooth with his footwork, he has excellent eye discipline, he reads, reacts and quickly and he has the foot speed to change direction quickly and drive on the football in flight. At 6’4, Franklin uses his extra length to extend, attack and shut down passing lanes. When Kameron makes a pic, he immediately turns into an offensive threat. Offensively, Franklin uses his athleticism at quarterback and wide receiver to terrorize defenders with his playmaking ability. He stands tall in the pocket and he has the ability to throw on the run from multiple arm slots. Kameron will split out wide or line up in the slot and he becomes a threat from the receiver position. Franklin has the speed to make a house call from any distance. Kameron is a dangerous return man, who can make one cut, get north and hit them for a quick six. Kameron is burning up the track this spring, whether it’s indoor or outdoor, Franklin is showing off his elite speed. Texas Southern, Mississippi Valley State, Weber State and East Central University have offered Franklin and his interest is trending upward. He definitely will have more suitors heading into his fall campaign.

King has an explosive first step, he has a quick get off at the snap of the ball, he runs the arch with excellent speed and he closes on the ball carrier with violent intentions. Jacob has violent hands, his powerful punch at the point of attack enables him to stun his opponent and King plays with great leverage. At 6’1 235, he has the frame of an edge rusher or 3-4 outside linebacker, but his versatility allows him to play any position along the Steele defensive line and wreck the offensive game plan. King had a dominant 2022 season, making First Team All-District on an 11-1 playoff team, racking up 63 total tackles with 6.5 sacks. Jacob is a disruptive force and schools are taking notice, with UNLV and Penn to name a few colleges who have reached out for visits and extended camp invites. King will no doubt find a college home come signing day in 2024.
