In the majority of financial markets, you want to sell high and buy low. For the top stock risers in the Prep Redzone Kansas Class of 2024 rankings, the “buy-options” for these seven football talents are more competitive than they were a year ago.

This scouting report focuses on seven athletes who shuffled up the rankings and should be heavily recruited in the upcoming year.

[player_tooltip player_id='334741' first='Dominic' last='Werner'], OL, 6'6”, 295, Bishop Miege (No. 30)

Bishop Miege had an explosive offense in 2022 and one guy clearing the way for Stag ball carriers was Dominic Warner. Werner looks like he spends all his time stacking hay bales. He is a solid run-blocker and quick enough to protect against edge rushers. With his size and skill set, he very well could end up in a Division I program.

[player_tooltip player_id='545362' first='Gunnar' last='Cross'], QB, 6'2”, 200, Salina Central (No. 35)

Gross is a dual-threat quarterback who posted eye-popping numbers in 2022. The Mustang quarterback threw for 14 touchdowns and 1,400-plus yards. He also accounted for 19 touchdowns and 850 yards in the run game. He has an accurate arm and is a solid leader in the huddle. Central went 7-3 in 2022 and a deep playoff run in 2023 could hinge on Gross' arm and legs.

[player_tooltip player_id='358820' first='Braden' last='Hales'], OL, 6'4”, 300, Olathe North (No. 41)

Hales has powerful legs, and a couple of Hudl highlights that look like scenes from “The Blind Side.” He plays left tackle for Olathe North. Offensive linemen are hard to project at times, but watching his highlight reel the first name that popped into my mind was Man Mountain Mike. Go Google him, kids!

[player_tooltip player_id='545361' first='Teegan' last='Haines'], LB, 6'4”, 190, McPherson (No. 42)

Haines is a ball-hawking linebacker for the McPherson Bullpups. He led McPherson with 112 tackles in 2022. He also had two interceptions. Haines is explosive and strong. He has the size and speed to play middle linebacker, but I could also see him moving into a hybrid pass-rushing safety,

[player_tooltip player_id='543071' first='Jackson' last='King'], QB, 6'3”, 190, Bishop Carroll (No. 52)

King is a dual-threat quarterback. He threw for seven touchdowns and 1,280 yards for Bishop Carroll during his junior season. King also rushed for 948 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2022. He is an intelligent football player and understands the importance of protecting the football.

[player_tooltip player_id='415304' first='Tristen' last='Davidson'], ATH, 6'3”, 200, Kingman (No. 92)

Davidson is an interesting athlete. If it were 1988, he'd be a lead-blocking fullback. If it was 1999, he'd be a pass-catching H-Back. In 2023 he's a tight end that you can split out wide. The bottom line is, Davidson is a football player and an offensive weapon. This is a Kansas student-athlete that in-state schools should fight for and keep in-state.

[player_tooltip player_id='259785' first='Jeron' last='Askren'], TE, 6'3”, 195, Maize South (No. 98)

Maize South is becoming a football factory and [player_tooltip player_id='259785' first='Jeron' last='Askren'] could be the next man up. He is a tall, physical target. He creates match-up problems for opposing defensive coordinators. Much like Davidson, I would line him up at fullback at least once a quarter and just let him run the ball. The Maverick prospect is a tough tackle.
