Here are the quarterbacks who are making their debut in the rankings.
Wentworth is a big lefty who is a multi sport athlete at Central Catholic. He’s a big play quarterback who had a great offensive line which resulted in him surveying the field and making deep throws.
He has a nice arm and is a good enough athlete to scramble when the play breaks down. He doesn’t make a ton of mistakes but still takes risky throws deep down the field.
Highlights
Shaffer was the backup quarterback for St. Pius to start the season and had a breakout game against St. Francis off the bench.
He went 15-18 with 300 yards and 3 touchdowns. He appeared in several games after that and the team didn’t miss a beat. His release isn’t the smoothest but he has a quick release and nice arm.
He’s especially good on intermediate level throws and can throw off-platform.
Tate only appeared in two games for Oaks Christian last season but he could start at a good amount of schools.
He has plus accuracy and can hit receivers in stride. He can also improvise when under pressure.
Tate plays for the very good Premium passing league teams in LA and has drawn some college interest.
Lovett saw some action last season but there is not a ton of film on him.
He has a high release and is accurate on the short throws.
Lovett has offers from Houston Christian and Campbell.
Fountain Valley improved greatly when they handed Banua the reins at quarterback. His release is smooth, he has nice touch on the deep balls and is accurate on the intermediate throws.
He isn’t a speed demon but he’s a sneaky good athlete who can extend plays with his legs. His field vision is what stands out on film because he often hits his second and third options on passing plays.
