All of these guys listed come in all different shapes and sizes, but they are all electric in their own way. Here’s why.
Eddrick Houston Eddrick Houston 6'3" | 255 lbs | DL Buford | 2024 State GA – DE – Buford
Ranked by all recruiting and scouting services as one of the best 2024 prospects in the nation. Holds dozens of offers to his name and will have his pick out of numerous elite programs. Houston carries a 6’3 255 build with a very toned and muscular build. Some of his features are almost like he was built in a lab to be a defensive end, like his long arms and stout lower body. Houston has a rare blend of speed and power off the edge. He can go around you or he can put his foot in the ground and bullrush you, making him hard to get a read on. He has strong arms and active hands, keeping himself free of blockers as he begins his pursuit. For a bigger guy, he is blessed with great speed and plays with a high motor, helping rush the QB out of the pocket. You will be hearing Houston’s name a lot over the next few years, and it’s because he is a freak athlete with an incredibly toned game.
KingJoseph Edwards KingJoseph Edwards 6'4" | 235 lbs | DL Buford | 2024 State GA – DE/EDGE – Mill Creek
Yet another highly touted prospect with the versatility to line up as a rusher or with his hand in the dirt. His 6’5 243 frame checks plenty of boxes and he has some room to add some more weight as well. His first step explosiveness and sheer speed alone allow him to get around the edge and flush the QB out of the pocket. Even when he isn’t coming up with sacks, his prescience around the edge speeds up the mental clock of QBs and forces them into bad decisions. He has a nice arsenal of pass-rushing moves with an arm-over and spin move. When he ties everything together on certain reps, he becomes a nightmare for offensive tackles and QBs. Edwards is already an impressive-looking prospect, but his best football is ahead of him. As he continues his growth and develop, he should turn into an impact player at a high level of college football.
Ira Singleton – DE/EDGE – Parkview
Singleton is one of the biggest risers on this list, just recently picking up his first set of offers and staring down even more. At 6’4 220 with a 79-inch wingspan, Singleton has that tall and wiry frame that colleges sometimes seek out in high school pass rushers. Singleton has some room to add a lot of weight, which will add just another element to his game. He does an outstanding job at using his long arms to gain leverage on offensive linemen and either rip through them or drive them backwards to collapse the pocket. When he lines up at the EDGE spot, he lines up fairly wide and attacks the outside shoulder of the tackle. His speed, body control, and bend make him a handful for even the best offensive tackles.
Aidan Butts – DE – Stephens County
Under the radar pass rusher that ended up as one of the state leaders in sacks in 2022. Butts wins with his pure effort and mean streak coming off the edge. He might not have the length that some other pass rushers have, but he has very active arms and does an excellent job of keeping linemen from locking him up. Not only does he have excellent pursuit skills, but he is also incredibly explosive and fast, he has clocked in a 4.7 40-yard dash. Butts has great tackling skills and doesn’t always go for the big hit. He also does an excellent job of not overpursuing, which is a commonly found trait with players that have his playstyle. With another big senior season, Butts should start flying up the radar.
Uche Iloh Uche Iloh 6'7" | 230 lbs | DL McIntosh | 2024 State GA – DE/EDGE – McIntosh
Big-time basketball recruit who is starting to creep onto the recruiting radar on the gridiron. Iloh has some traits that you can’t teach. For starters, he stands at around 6’7 240 and carries his weight exceptionally well. Along with his size, he can move well and has fantastic body control, which he carries over from being a big man on the basketball court. Iloh is super quick and explosive off the line and can go from 0-100 very quickly in regards to acceleration. Due to his speed, he can chase down QBs which forces them into bad throws, that’s if they are able to avoid getting sacked. Iloh is still raw, but his best football is still ahead of him and he is a top 1% athlete. Iloh already has several P5 offers to his name, and there are certainly more on the way.
AJ Pigford AJ Pigford 6'2" | 230 lbs | DL South Gwinnett | 2024 State GA – DL – Luella
Explosive and versatile big man that burst onto the scene with 16 sacks and nearly 50 TFLs during 2022. Holds two offers to his name thus far, with one being from Oklahoma. When you look at his tools, there should be no surprise as to why Moore is generating buzz on the recruiting trail. Moore is a big guy at 6’1 270 that offers the defense a pass-rushing prescience from the interior of the DL. His explosion, fast hands, and sheer violence make him almost impossible to block. Off the snap, he creates instant penetration and often gets to the QB before he can fully get back into his drop. He spends most of his time on the inside, but he can line up at DE as well, where his quickness and explosiveness off the edge flushes the QB out of the pocket. Moore is still creeping onto the radar. His pass-rushing prescience on the inside makes him N intriguing prospect worthy of a look.
Kamren Reese Kamren Reese 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Stockbridge | 2024 State GA – EDGE – Stockbridge
Rising edge prospect that has some impressive traits to build upon. He holds 6’2 210 with an athletic frame and room to add plenty of more weight. Fluid and balanced pass rusher that shows good bend and ankle flexion around the edge. He also shows the ability to change directions with ease, sparking reactions from offensive linemen as he makes his way into the backfield. For a player that doesn’t have the length or sheer strength that some other prospects have, Reese does an excellent job of baiting linemen and using his athleticism and body control to get himself free. He will continue to grow physically which will just add another element to his game. Reese already holds an offer from Alabama State and I would expect more to be on the way over the next year.
Aidan Maddox – DE – North Paulding
Super impressive athlete with the type of controlled aggression that you love to see in pass rushers. Maddox has a long 6’4 225 frame and could end up being even bigger by the time he heads to the college ranks. Maddox plays like a heat-seeking missile. Once locked in on the QB, Maddox will attack with sheer violence and aggression as he begins his pursuit. He tends to force the action against offensive linemen, taking the fight straight to them and then using his hands or a slight change in direction to get them off balance and set himself free. At contact, Maddox certainly packs a punch that will leave the QB getting up slowly, but he does it by form tackling, making sure the QB has no chance to pop back up and keep the play alive. Maddox is one of the best-kept secrets in the state and it’s a matter of time before people start taking notice.
