Continue ReadingA Defensive Linemen with good size at 6-foot-3 and 230-pounds, unofficially. Played in the Carolina Bowl this past December as a member of team North Carolina. Not the explosive athlete others in this 2027 class are…yet. Hard not to love that length, frame and upside.
Standing north of 6-feet tall if I had to guess (unverified height), Shoulars immediately caught my eye this past December at AYF Nationals. His current size and ability has me quite intrigued for the future Very crisp movement in the pocket for a Quarterback at this stage. Throws the ball with timeliness and accuracy.
A vital member of the 5-3 Wakefield Middle School program this year in Raleigh, North Carolina, Pleasants (unofficially) put up big numbers in his eighth-grade campaign. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound righty with a unique throwing motion tallied 20 total touchdowns (19 through the air) and 1,287 passing yards with just three interceptions. He’ll be at Wakefield High School in the fall.
Highlights
Really love the competitive fire from this kid. Residing less than a half hour from Charlotte, the Mt. Holly Middle School prospect is one to get familiar with. While unverified, stands in the 6-foot, 150-pound neighborhood. Phenomenal ball skills as both a Wide Receiver and a Safety. Something about his style says defense is the future for him, but we’ll see.
Cypher is a prospect to keep dabs on. Doesn’t have a verified size but lists himself at 6-foot-1 and 180-pounds on Twitter and looks to be in that range. Good muscle on him. Appears to work very hard in the off-season to get himself ready for high school ball, coming off an injury this past year. Also plays Wide Receiver on offense and basketball in the off-season.
Another prospect without verified measurements–which is completely normal for middle school prospects-Griffin Jr. is a prospect that grows on me every time I check his clips. Lists himself at 5-foot-9 and 190-pounds and is put together with a thick, yet athletic build. Also plays Linebacker on defense. Comes to the field with violence on his mind, regardless of what side of the ball he’s playing.
Pate is one of those prospects that you pull up his highlights when you’re hangin with your buddy’s, just to show them. Straight up makes my knees, ankles and feet hurt just watching his quick stutter steps and jukes. Lists himself at 5-foot-7 and 150-pounds, but I think that might be generous. Gnat-like quickness and dangerous in space.
Highlights
The South Carolina prospect is sudden and aggressive on the gridiron. This year lined up at multiple positions including Running Back, Wide Receiver (Slot), Defensive Back and Outside Linebacker. Lists himself at 5-foot-9 and 150-pounds on social media and looks to be right around there, based off my eye. Good full body strength and control, which allows him to shove arm-tackles to the ground.
While watching 2027 Quarterback Kevin Johnson Kevin Johnson 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB Fort Dorchester | 2027 SC ‘s film, the stud prospect had a number of impressive skill guys around him–one of which was Muhammad. Love the speed and quickness he plays the game with. Lined up in the slot for Fort Dorchester this past season and routinely blew past Defensive Backs if they didn’t get in a back pedal right away. Gives up some height right now, but plays like a kid much taller. Strong hands and a YAC machine.
Sticking with the Fort Dorchester connection, at 5-foot-11 and 145-pounds (unverified size) Riley was the taller, bigger Wide Receiver for the Fort Dorchester offense this past season. While Muhammad was keeping heads on a swivel with quickness, Riley brought a more physical precense to the offense. Built like Kevin Durant with a thin frame and long arms. Speaking of KD, he’s also a basketball player. If the trio continues to work and develop, they have the potential to become a dangerous threesome in the Palmetto State over the next four years.
