As one class graduates, the next senior class becomes the primary recruiting target from college programs. The class of 2024 has previewed elite talent among its ranks with players who have proven themselves as legitimate college prospects capable of playing at the highest level.
This article will briefly examine six cornerbacks from the 2024 class who should be high on the recruiting boards, especially for the in-state programs.
Rosenmeyer is a popular athlete on the verge of gaining elite status as a recruit. His 77-inch wingspan on his 6-foot-1 frame makes him an immediate standout, but his on-field talents and overall skillset make him a top corner in the state. His physicality and aggressive playing style allow him to throw receivers off their game. Rosenmeyer is a lockdown cornerback who will undoubtedly sign with a powerful program.
Douglas is a long corner with good feet, and smooth backpedals. He flips his hips quickly and has disciplined eyes, rarely losing sight of the receiver’s near hip. His ability to squeeze down on routes and use the boundary to his advantage makes him a difficult corner to beat deep. Douglas is an intelligent player with excellent physicality, which help earn him an offer from Central Michigan.
Jackson is a talented cornerback with superb techniques. He does an excellent job at staying in his leverage and forcing outside releases to the sideline. When playing against the run, he seals off the outside to force the ball carrier back toward his help or initiate contact with the runner to finish the play. Jackson has the potential to be a steal for the program that recognizes the need to invest in his talents.
Damian McKiever
Damian McKiever
McKiever is a scrappy corner with good feet in press-man coverage. He plays toward his leverage well and seals off the inside when jamming at the line. His quick acceleration and impressive speed help him run stride-for-stride with receivers. He shows good patience when in trail technique, which allows him to disrupt catches and shut down the play. McKiever is a tough defender who is willing to hit, making him a potential prospect for a nickel corner.
Preston Terranova
Preston Terranova
Terranova is an outstanding coverage corner with great instincts and ball-hawking skills. He has good speed and vision, which help him cover the field with ease. His ability to stay aware of where he is on the field allows him to recognize route patterns better. Terranova has shown solid improvement during the offseason by putting on impressive performances in 7-on-7 events, making him a must-know player.
Josiah Rodriguez
Josiah Rodriguez
Rodriguez is a quick cornerback who does an excellent job keeping his feet moving within his frame and quickly breaking on the ball. His impressive acceleration and ability to maintain eye discipline allow him to stay over the top of the receiver to cap the route or make a play while in phase. Rodriguez is an under-the-radar player who has the skills needed to play tight man coverage or cover a wide area in zone.
